I donât usually review anything as my self confidence is such that I canât see why anyone would want my opinion.
But in this case Iâm willing to make an effusive exception. Following directly from the Classic Who Serial âThe Web of Fearâ Forgotten Son uses many cornerstones of that serial to set out he forthcoming rangeâs stall.
Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart, still in charge of London following the events of Web, is the man on the spot when a series of mysterious events sets him on course with destiny.
Deftly woven with its web of Doctor Who history, filling some gaps and alluding to others. There are even characters that one feels should have forged a different fate.
If youâre a fan of the Brig, Nicholas Courtney, the Early years of Doctor Who or even Big Finishâs Countermeasures range then this is a book for you.
If youâre a fan of a good old fashioned adventure thriller with a sci fi bent then look no further.
Iâd pre-ordered the range based on my love of the Virgin and BBC novels of the wilderness years and I have to admit this first volume has done something very few of those tales managed. I woke early today and found I couldnât sleep. So I picked this from the nightstand and started reading about 7am. By 12.30 it was over (even including a 10 minute break between chapters for breakfast) and I was hungry for more.
The last time I can recall doing that with a Doctor Who novel was Lance Parkinâs âThe Infinity Doctorsâ
