Imagine being a biologist in the Doctor Who universe. Ancient lizard people emerge from underground saying they're called Homo reptilia. Ancient water lizard people emerge from the sea saying they're called Homo aqua.
No, you can't. You can't just join a genus. That's not how this works.
But we're humanoid
Doesn't matter. Sure that's a fascinating convergent evolution, a body plan arising millennia before we thought. Definitely grounds for research. But you AREN'T part of the Homo genus. Did you evolve from a primate ancestor? No, didn't think so. Go pick a new name.
