Lan Jingyi, Jin Ling and Ouyang Zizhen walk past the jingshi after a long day of studies and hear a heated exchange of words, a terrible argument, bouncing off the walls of the place. There's screaming and voices tremble around syllables - so, of course, they go listen in. Are their seniors fighting?
Lan Wangji, "You used me! You took advantage - all of my feelings for you... and this is what you do?!"
Wei Wuxian, "You let me! You knew! Why are you acting like this is my fault? Like you wouldn't have done the same thing?!"
"I wouldn't betray your trust!"
"This is pointless, Wei Ying."
"Oh, so now it's pointless?! No - no, you don't get to walk away-"
Lan Jingyi looks, terrified, at his friends. They too seem scared, nearly on the verge of tears.
"Do you guys think they'll... break up?"
"...I don't know, that sounds... bad." Jin Ling sighs.
"I give up on believing in love if they divorce. What's the point?" Zizhen laments. "And how will we break the news in to Sizhui? They're basically his parents-"
"Break what news to me?" Sizhui asks as he comes up behind his friends and crouches with them.
"Your dads are divorcing." Jin Ling cuts in and earns Zizhen's and Jingyi's glares in return. "What? Rip off the bandaid."
Sizhui tilts his head in confusion. "What are you guys on about?"
"Are you happy?! Is this what you wanted?!"
"It is! It fucking is, and if you'd stop being so-"
Sizhui sighs, and his friends are quick to try and comfort him, but it isn't difficult to see he isn't upset at all.
"They're not divorcing, guys. They're playing Monopoly."
