"Tonnara of Vendicari" in the "Riserva naturale orientata Oasi Faunistica di Vendicari". One of the most beautiful sights in the eastern part of Sicily and this old tuna factory is eyecatching from far away. The stone floor is marvelous and would be a perfect event location for a yoga retreat!

Really - fog can fog up ones mind. Especially in the eastern part of Austria where we have fog for 2 months now. What a treat! But there is always the sunny side of the alps. Get off your ass - hike up the mountains - and simply enjoy the sun. Thats it :-)

November and December are desperate times in Lower Austria, because of the lack of sun. We're covered in fog and the only way to get a little bit of sun is to get high enough (literally not figuratively!).

The Etna, the Teatro Antico Taormina and Isola Bella = Sicilys at its best!

The second part of my snowy winter series, of my beloved SnowMountain (Schneeberg), is all about the trees and their majestic appearance.

What a beautiful day! Photo-hiking-trip to one of my favorite locations in Austria - Schneeberg or Snow Mountain. Off the beaten path - without anyone on my tail. Only nature, snow, wind and me. Thats what I call a retreat (in snow)!

Thaipusam Festival or Thai Poosam Kavady Festival is one of the biggest Hindu Festivals in India, especially by the Tamil community in South India. But all Indians around the world celebrate this day and the capital of Mauritius - Port Louise is vibrating in all colors, forms and in devotion. I have never been to a Hindu parade bevor and I truly enjoyed the experience (for a while). Especially from a photographic standpoint - there is one opportunity after the other and my day endet with a full memory card and lots of memories!

On my way up to Le Pouce Mountain Peak (820m), one of the highest mountains in #Mauritius, I met this long-tailed female Macaque (Macaca fascicularis); such a friendly and curious little creature. She approached us slowly, jumped away again and repeated her game for 5 minutes. But that game had a sudden end when her husband approached the scene and we realized why this species is listed as a threat and invasive alien species in Mauritius! The local hikers next to me told me that these species are one of the major export goods of Mauritius, besides sugar and preserved fish, with more than 8000 Macaques per year. I met macaques all over the island, especially at the Hindu pilgrimage site Grand Bassin where the apes steel the devotee's gifts from the Hanuman Temple. 
They look super cute, especially the young ones, but be aware of their aggressive behavior  - they are not pets!
