this is dustin john higgs.

in 1996, he was convicted of kidnapping and murdering three women and was sentenced to death.

this conviction is entirely false. he didn’t murder anybody.

he has been found not guilty of the crime. at this point, the only reason he remains in jail is because he was at the scene of the crime. the court also claims that he bullied willis hayes, the man who actually did murder the three women, into killing them. however, willis hayes has come forward and has admitted that dustin DID NOT commit the crime, and he’s also even confessed that dustin never bullied him into murdering the trio of women. but the court won’t accept it.

DUSTIN JOHN HIGGS IS SCHEDULED TO BE EXECUTED ON JANUARY 15, 2021. HE IS GOING TO BE EXECUTED FOR A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT AT ALL. WE CAN’T LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.

Trans men do not have the access to abuse resources & community that many other queer people do. Women’s shelters require trans male victims to either “be men” and be excluded from those resources, or to go back into the closet and exchange resources & freedom from abusers for… what will undoubtedly be a traumatic experience where they aren’t allowed to talk about or be who they are, lest they be ejected from the shelter & put back in danger of homelessness or further victimization from their abuser. There are similar issues around therapy, support groups, and other resources, outlined in that link.

Trans men are uniquely isolated, and this is a major problem that mostly doesn’t get addressed. The dominant way of thinking about this is that trans men actually only face as much violence as cis women do, if that, because they have “male privilege” and must be treated like cis men. I shouldn’t have to explain why this isn’t true. The oppression trans men must face is seen as “only transphobia”, an imagined baseline of oppression that is exclusively related to the fact that we’re trans- also not true. (In fact, trans men face specific oppression for being trans, for being read as women- misogyny- and for being men when we “aren’t supposed to be”).

So trans men’s problems go unaddressed, there aren’t really resources available to us if we’re abused, and seeking out help is generally uncomfortable and unproductive, if not outright dangerous. Which means trans men are viewed, by many chasers, as “easy to control”. We’re appealing to many cis people because we don’t have a lot of recognition as a group, our problems aren’t viewed as real or serious, and oftentimes speaking up about them has us decried as misogynists (for implying men need help sometimes) or transmisogynists (because talking about our problems in our own spaces somehow detracts from trans women’s problems- and mind you, this is largely a cis line of thought).
