I Love Emo Nerds

(tbh this is kind of a fic idea that i want to be real, but i can’t write well, so it’s kinda long and just describing what would happen.)

like once everything finally clicks, he just tries to reject the feelings, which in turn leads to him spending less time w virgil and being more snippy towards him to distance himself so he doesn’t fall deeper in love, just to be safe. and this is all while in his head he’s freaking out over the fact that he does have feelings, and has romantic ones for virgil.

he stops asking virgil to do their normal hang outs, he leaves the room whenever possible when virgil walks in, he sometimes stares at virgil with a look of concentration/thoughtfulness (which just looks like him glaring at virgil) when he needs to be in a room with him for an extended period of time, he makes excuses whenever virgil offers to hang out/do something, and whenever virgil talks to him, he just gives short and blunt answers.

this ofc leads to virgil overthinking and makes him worry that logan just doesn’t enjoy his company anymore, so he also tries to distance himself as well so he doesn’t upset logan anymore than he already thinks he did.

logan obviously Does Not want that, and realizes that he’s been kinda shitty to virgil after he realized he misses virgil’s company and realizing that it’s mainly His Fault that virgil isn’t spending time with him. so bc he misses their little hang outs, he finally asks virgil to do what they normally did and virgil’s like “???? r u sure?? i thought u hated me and were avoiding me???”

logan goes like “what ahaha i don’t hate u and i wasn’t purposefully avoiding you, ive just been busy” (which is technically true, he was busy trying to get rid of his feelings, not avoid virgil) and virgil hesitates before agreeing to continue doing their normal things again, but is noticeably quieter and more reserved bc he’s scared that logan might hate him again.

so logan looks online for how to deal with Feelings because he’s way too prideful to tell patton or roman that he has feelings for virgil, even tho they probably already know just by the way he looks at virgil. but all he finds online is shit like “stop hanging around that person so much” and “find someone else to have a crush on” and logan obviously Does Not Want That bc 1. he wants to keep spending time w virgil, and 2. virgil is literally the only side he enjoys being around, so he’s the only side he would realistically fall for.

eventually he would realize that the feelings Are Not going away and all the things he read online have also told him to just confess to get rid of them, but he doesn’t know how to do that. the only way he can think of is just telling it to virgil flat out, but he knows that would likely freak virgil out if something like that came out of no where, so he kinda just swallows his pride and goes to roman bc yk, he’s the Romance Guy.

so ofc roman already knows what’s up and is like “ok well u don’t think virgil likes u back??” to which logan’s like “???????? why do u think that?” and roman just starts listing the shit they do together that is EXCLUSIVELY their activities (generally talking to each other more than the others, joking w eachother/having inside jokes which logan Does Not do w the other sides, literally cuddling/hugging/touching each other even tho they are both generally touch averse, etc)

so ofc logan’s just trying to justify his behavior towards virgil, saying that it was to help virgil calm down or was logically beneficial for both parties. and roman asks if he would do that for any of the other sides he hesitates a little and goes “well, yes, logically i suppose i would” but his expression definitely reads “but i probably wouldn’t enjoy it”

cue roman basically just going “holy shit ur dumb, virgil likes u, just tell him” and says that virgil wouldn’t do stuff like that w logan unless he liked him back. so ofc logan’s like “aughhhhhh fiiiiineeeee” but he doesn’t know how to confess his feelings. he knows that roman’s suggestions would be extremely over the top and only make virgil uncomfortable, so he goes to patton bc he’s the side that knows virgil the best (besides him ofc, but patton is more feelings-y than he is)

so he basically tells patton “hey i like virgil, what do to tell him?” and patton is like “1. i knew it, 2. just uhhhhhh do smth u guys normally do and casually bring it up so virgil doesn’t feel blindsided or smth?? maybe add a little smth extra to make it special”

after much deliberation, logan finally has the Perfect Plan and he invites virgil to do smth they normally do (doesn’t matter what it is, it can be stargazing, watching a movie, doing a puzzle, etc.) but he’s clearly a little more nervous to ask this time.

virgil obviously clocks it bc he is Anxiety and just gets the vibes, but assumes it’s just bc logan was having a particularly stressful day and needed to calm down, so ofc he agrees. but the longer they hang out, he sees logan growing more nervous so he’s just like “bro what is up w u today, are u ok????” and being genuinely concerned (which logan is very touched by)

logan just goes “haha yes i am fine idk what ur talking about!” and bc he’s dogshit at lying, virgil just gets even more concerned. ofc he doesn’t try to force logan to tell him bc he knows that would only stress him out more, but he does the whole “well if u need someone to talk to, i’m always here” spiel. this ends up w them holding hands at some point bc they both know that the other enjoys that bit of physical contact.

logan, ofc, only gets more nervous bc Holy Shit We’re Holding Hands until he’s finally like, “hey i need to talk to u.”

he’s not rlly thinking rn so he doesn’t consider how his words sound to virgil, so virgil’s just internally panicking and thinking “oh my god what did i do this time, why is he angry with me now?” logan notices ofc and backtracks, saying he isn’t upset or angry with him, which calms virgil down a little, but not entirely, bc logan’s using his Serious Voice, even tho it’s a little shaky from nerves or wtv.

logan starts rambling about his feelings towards virgil, but he’s using a lot of technical terms and way overcomplicating his confession to the point that at the end virgil’s just staring confused bc. That’s A Lot Of Big Words. and he just goes. “,,,,, can u translate that so normies can understand it pls”

logan grows more nervous, rambling a little more and still kinda overcomplicating his confession, but this time virgil can actually understand it. so just “over the course of (x amount of time) i have come to realize that i treat u differently, and that i may have emotions etc, etc, and i have recently come to the conclusion that i have developed feelings of the romantic kind for u” kinda thing, yk?

virgil kinda stares at him for a while before he’s like, “no you don’t.” bc ofc he’s not gonna believe anyone has feelings for a mess like him, especially not someone like logan.

logan is obviously confused. he’s done a bunch of research and both roman and patton say his feelings towards virgil are romantic,,,,, he’s not good at feelings but he’s pretty damn certain about his own towards virgil. he wouldn’t have confess smth like this if he weren’t 100% sure.

so he’s like, “yes i do, all my evidence point towards this blah blah blah.” and when logan finishes, virgil’s just kinda stunned before he says smth like “why tf would you like me.”

being super literal, logan begins listing off the dozens of reasons he would realistically fall for him which leads to virgil only getting more flustered (logan realizes he feels this weird tightness in his chest when virgil’s flustered so add that to the list). virgil kinda has to tell him to shut up (while being super flustered ofc) and he quietly admits that he liked him back.

logan knew this bc there’s no way the romance side and the feelings side were wrong ab that, but hearing virgil admit it outright makes him way more happy than is explainable.

after virgil’s confession, logan’s like, “ok now what?” and bc virgil is almost equally as bad at relationships as logan, he’s like, “uhhhhh idk. i think we kiss now???????”

first kiss is obviously clumsy, both worried that if they overdo it, they’ll scare the other person away w just how Intense their feelings are. but once they kiss once, it’s smth they can’t really get enough of.

virgil feels a sense of calming yet excited euphoria. it’s grounding for him while also being that intoxicating feeling of risk that he normally tries to avoid like the plague. the kiss feels like he’s gambling away his previous relationship w logan and somehow winning the jackpot, even if logan was the one to confess his feelings and initiate it.

logan also feels that euphoria and it makes him wonder why it feels that way, bc realistically this should just be like any other form of contact they’ve had in the past, right? (bro is so unromantic at the beginning but he gets better as they date for longer) so he just keeps leaning in for more kisses until they both have to pull away to breathe.

by the time they return to the mind palace, they’re doing what they normally do whenever they hang out so roman and patton can’t really tell if logan confessed or not. they don’t notice how logan has a subtle triumphant smile and his cheeks are redder than usual. they don’t notice how virgil’s lips are slightly more swollen from the kisses he shared w logan and how he refuses to look logan in the eye.

both logan and virgil. kinda agree not to tell them just yet bc they don’t wanna make them getting together a huge deal, and also bc they wanna figure some stuff out (like boundaries and what couples Normally do) beforehand.

nothing much changes between them bc they were already p touchy w eachother before they started dating. only thing that’s changed is the fact that they kiss (in private ofc) and stay in each other’s rooms more often.

to roman and patton, it just looks like they’re just painfully pining for each other w neither wanting to confess. so after like a month of this bs, roman finally confronts them and is like “dude it’s obvious u both like each other, just kiss and start dating already.”

they both kinda look at roman w this slightly amused expression since they’ve been together for like. a month and a half now, before virgil just goes ‘fuck it’ and kisses logan in front of roman. roman’s obviously flabbergasted that virgil actually kissed him and immediately starts yelling for patton (bc ofc they’ve been talking to each other ab logan and virgil’s feeling for each one another). cue them both freaking out before logan reveals that they’ve been dating for a while now.

this causes roman and patton to freak out even more, to the point logan and virgil just leave so they don’t have to deal w their questions.

understanding, trust, and reliability on both sides.

It's shown how in tune they are with each other; they always take notice when the other is badly affected by something and point it out. Great examples of this are when Logan sees Virgil freaking out and addresses it, trying to get out of the situation, and when Virgil stops Roman and Logan's argument to point out Logan's poorly hidden distress.

They understand one another, they can see where the other is coming from, even if it freaks them out or they don't agree with a point, there's never hostility like with Roman, covering up how they feel about it like Patton does, or a hidden agenda like with Janus. They are both people who feel intensely but don't like to let it show, even if one is in less denial about feelings. They are both put in similar situations a lot, where they have to be the voices of reason and work together a lot. They are both viewed as downers contributing to their relationship (ro or pl) and further understanding of each other having similar views on situations, or as said, " a better understanding of reality".

Enthought, they view reality through a different lens, one being objective and the other pessimistic; they are still similar in their concerns, being able to point out problems. Now here's the big difference: Virgil can point out a problem but can't solve it. In his own words, " I can point out a problem, but I'm not innovative enough to solve it." But guess who is? logan, of course! This helps them work to a broader conclusion and also be good friends. Because Virgil knows he can't solve the problem, but he knows Logan can, and Logan doesn't always see when there's a problem, so he can trust Virgil to point it out.

They understand, trust, and rely on each other because they know each other and have an understanding that none of the others have. Yes, this is still relevant even with the new episode; they have not stopped trusting each other. Actually, Virgil's fear when Logan confirms something he feared shows how much he trusts Logan. Just because Logan didn't say what Virgil hoped he would isn't the end of a good relationship.
