This is the great secret of life. No-one is doing this to you. But actually, they are just thoughts, ideas, views and opinions. They are not realities. They come from you and only ever have the power that you give them. No-one can make you happy, except you. No-one can make you unhappy, except you. In our life we are surrounded by millions of conditions that lead us always into one of these two extreme positions of mind. The great delusion is that the condition and the feeling is the same thing. It’s not, of course, and we can know this easily if we cultivate even a little awareness in our life. Getting what you want cannot be guaranteed to bring happiness. Losing what you have does not necessarily bring unhappiness. Without investigation it always seems different from this and we spend so much of our time and energy blaming the world and the things in the world for how we feel in this moment. But it’s just an appearance. It’s part of being asleep in life. The way of freedom is to be awake in life, to see the reality of life and to celebrate this life. May all beings be happy”
