R Q O T D ā What are the 3 most fundamental traits that define your character, and how did these traits develop? Which figures and what events in their childhood, or even adulthood, influenced their current personality elements? (Feel free to forward this ask to more people ā„)
I feel like everyone knows the most about Aislyn, but I shall answer this for her anyway, hehe~
The three traits that define her best are:
This is one of the few traits that Aislyn has possessed ever since she was quite young and hasnāt lost, despite all of the changes she underwent in her teenage years. Itās something she gets from her father. Heās someone who took risks in his career despite being advised against certain decisions by his peers, and those choices often ended up paying off in the long run. The few times things didnāt go his way werenāt enough to deter him from doing what he wanted, so heād always tell Aislyn to stick with her gut and do what she felt was best in any given situation. For that reason, Aislyn continues to act on her impulses when it comes to solving problems, regardless of what those around her may say or how dangerous her actions may be. The only person who has a slight chance of steering her off her track when doing something is J.D.
By now it has become very apparent - and frustrating - that Aislyn never says more than she needs to. It is why poor Cailean is having a tough time in their relationship because he feels like if he doesnāt ask, Aislyn wont ever volunteer any kind of information about what sheās thinking or how sheās feeling. This is primarily due to Aislyn wanting to avoid attention, and also avoid making those around her worry. Because she was so popular growing up, and given her negative experiences with her friends and acquaintances turning on her after her accident, Aislyn doesnāt like showing any vulnerability and has a complete aversion to social situations now. In the back of her mind she still feels as though the new friends and loved ones in her life could leave her at any given time, like her mother did, so distancing herself is her way of minimizing that potential pain.
Aislyn cares deeply for and empathizes with others, whether she knows them well or not. Itās why she so easily gets dragged into helping many ghosts with their unfinished business. As a kid and teen her relationships with friends and lovers were largely superficial. She liked all of the people around her, and enjoyed hanging out with them, but she never went out of her way to really get to know others, and vice versa. This trait is something she developed ironically after spending a lot of time alone after going to college and breaking up with the only relationship sheād maintained from her school days: her boyfriend Tristan. She did a lot of introspection, and realized that the people that gravitated towards her only did so because of how she acted and not who she actually was, which she herself wasnāt even sure of anymore. Having that time with herself made her relate to other people struggling with their own issues for the first time. Despite being a terrible communicator herself, and the management of her relationships - romantic or otherwise - being abysmal, Aislynās rather good at giving advice to others and helping them solve their issues. She doesnāt mind going the extra mile to do something if itāll make someone be better off in some way, which is why sheād spend hours helping tutor people like Nina, or shop with Mackenzie, or *cough* listen to the concerns of her future sibling(s) š *cough* and so on.
All that being said, a little bit of extra info about Aislyn is that she doesnāt think of herself as a āgoodā person, and there are several reasons for that which shall be delved into at a later time^^
