eldest child of olive & ronak barot; a member of the american embassy ( & in the future, an us ambassador for the uk) & the ceo of a cybersecurity company, respectfully. him and his younger sister alya were born into a certain wealth. as close to nobility as they could get. 

they hopped between the us and the uk quite frequently - uk for schooling, us for breaks; or rome, or paris, or wherever else. 

like. spoiled but not spoiled. grew up pretty humbled bcos it’d always been known to them that they would be cut off financially by 21, in order to give them a little. kick. to find success and financial stability. but dont get me wrong they were still <3 rich kids

uuhhh amos and alya grew up pretty close to each other, close enough in age that they felt more like twins than siblings (tho amos wld still use the. older sibling thing 2 his advantage)

there’s been <3 points in their childhood where if anybody spoke ill of alya, amos would <3 get into fights <3 and though he’s much calmer now the history of. absolutely going ham on anybody askin for it is still there.

loosened up by the time he entered sixth form - his studies were still important to him but <3 he was a social butterfly. would go out nearly every night, gone whole weekends. never told his family where he’d gone. started to exclude alya from his adventures, which is when they began to drift apart.

this didn’t last for too long ‘cos uuuhh. a series of unfortunate events occurred. 

he arrived home to their home being searched; valuables lifted out, furniture escorted. police asking questions - alya crying, his mother unable to look him in the eye. their father nowhere to be seen. 

soon after he found out that <3 his father’s cybersecurity company had done pretty much. the opposite of that. leaking the information of their. very important clientele. selling data, embezzlement, money laundering. skimming. an overall corrupt operation that led to. some distress in london bc it was. a pretty big deal.

this ruins olive’s political career. she’s striped of her newly acquired position as the us’ uk ambassador & is promptly released from the embassy during her husband’s trial.

he was found guilty and olive moved their family back to the us. 

amos coped by pretending that their father never existed in the first place & continuing his antics as if he’d always lived that way. just never acknowledged anything.

 developed pretty. severe anxiety after this (he’d been seventeen around this time i think) & started having pretty severe issues with sleep. ignored it until the pressure of. living LMAO got to him and he hd a pretty bad breakdown. got diagnosed n medicated n has been doing. mildly ok since

getting accepted to yates’ and joining hastings ws probably the best thing to happen to him in a long time. he’s developing a new programming language & aims to create his own cybersecurity company that is totally legit and not corrupt as a big fuck u to his dad.

bt he’s broke and while his scholarship covers nearly everything he. likes to live grand and big. so he winds up doing others’ assignments for them. writing their essays. taking their online tests. slipping answers for a little extra spending money. he’s a TA, which gives him a pretty. hefty leverage. 

was in a pretty committed relationship for maybe. two and a half years. but it ended pretty recently and <3 he is still hurt <3

personality & facts.

kind of like uh. he’s very dramatic like. huge fan of dramatics and has this. very specific ability to just never take anything seriously at all (at least outwardly). everything to him is a joke & likes that he’s so smart because he thinks it gives him an. excuse to be pretentious and patronizing. thinks he’s the bees knees. he’s only mildly the bees knees. 

rolls joints the size of cigars and will pace the room at parties with it, talking about some. highly complicated theory that you realize halfway through is. the most bizarre and unlikely thing bt. somehow it all makes sense. goes around with a really shitty ‘20s mobster voice as he shares his conspiracy theories. 

he’s not very rough around the edges i think he can be quite. soft. just nonchalant and carefree. but there are also times where he’s. very sarcastic and provoking and sometimes straight up rude? mean but he doesn’t seem to realize it ‘cos he’s just sharing <3 his honest opinion and. telling it like how it is.

stole the valedictorian position in high school after transferring halfway thru his senior year <3 and still is proud of it <3 like an asshole

it’s like. he’s very smart but very stupid at the same time. doesn’t realize when he’s hurt someone. tries to be very intuitive but sometimes just straight up isn’t. doesnt usually know where he’s gone wrong or why

probably masking his insecurities and <3 overcompensating because of it. kind of exhausting to be around

he’s clever and willing to debate whenever, wherever. loves a heated argument. like really genuinely loves getting into them.

loves mean women a lot. it’s his weakness. if a woman is mean 2 him he is going to trip over his own feet. i swear it’s not a degradation thing he just admires women who r not afraid to be ruthless.

hes in computer science and thats cool n all but he knows sm more than just that. definitely in hastings for a reason. incredibly well read and hs studied a lot of. philosophy.

acts very. laidback n carefree but is probably like. one of the most stressed people alive. he’s always working on 5-6 different things at once. he has deadlines at all times. he does not sleep and if he does he is sleepwalking. stressed constantly.

has a <3 coffee addiction bt its not even funny he drinks sm coffee in a day sir pelase. please sir give ur body a break. has probably taped his eyes open before. 

but as much as he studies he also. parties a lot. there is not often a moment in his life where he is just. doing nothing which sucks because he <3 does very much like lying about. maybe dramatically

uh. has a complicated relationship with his sleeping medication. very dependent on it but at the same time will sometimes go days without taking it and without sleeping. has slept for over 24 hours once. sleepwalks and sleep talks and has almost gotten lost in the woods before.

overall. messy person. not stable. eccentric and high energy. 

loves and values his family a lot like he wld. die fr them. doesnt like to think about his dad. is a pal for life usually very ride or die. loyal to a t. loves to be overly friendly with people like he’s known them for fifty years but does it in a very casual way.

can be very petty. manchild attitude sometimes. mimics and mocks. bt only when hes very upset <3 bt not an excuse 2 b a cunt
