after 11 years ... i have changed my url. (its me guys, koalatea)

For years I’ve posted every life update on this blog so :P I had my grad school orientation today. I start classes next month 😱 it’s an accelerated program so I’ll be done in summer 2027. I’ve been out of school for 6 years and kept avoiding going back but I’ve #committed to the program yay everyone clap

I was looking for a job and then I found a job and heaven knows I Should Have Stayed Unemployed. This is 27.

sometimes you have to wait until you’re 27 for a book to make sense (this is about how I kept trying to read my brilliant friend but didn’t actually finish it until last month)

I was 12 years old when I made this account and I was a really sad kid that was scared to start middle school. I had very little access to any kind of support and my home life was rough, so I turned to online spaces to find people that I could relate and talk to. Tumblr was a huge part of my adolescence and I met so many of mt closest friends on here 😭 And my time on tumblr has also brought me closer to people I met IRL who also spent their teen years using the site. The past couple of months have been really rough for me (due to the general state of the US and also me getting laid off and getting into a car accident lmao) so it’s been hard to feel hopeful about anything. But last week in therapy I brought up how tumblr got me through so much when I was younger and I was like damn … the version of me that made this account had no idea what I was going to accomplish! I got a full ride to my dream school and graduated and I have spent the last few years working in my community supporting youth and families. I am very proud of myself for doing all of that AND for also finally getting access to reliable mental health support. So I’m trying to remember that even though things really fuckin suck right now and there will be many more challenges to come … there are still things in my future that I should be hopeful for and fight for. Idk lol just wanted to share that in case anyone else is feeling the same way 😞🩷
