I’m gonna do it again, because quite frankly I am obsessed and if I don’t get it out, life will cease to have meaning. Another scene I LOVE LOVE LOVE from Strange Magic is the ending scene (who doesn’t, am I right?).
It freaking KILLS me that Big chose to sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” because it is the same song that Marianne and the Love Dusted sang when they thought they were in love. The LOOK on Marianne’s face. It’s just not Bog at ALL, and she knows that!
This is Bog basically telling her, “I’ll be anything you want me to be, if you’ll love me, even something I’m not.” And Marianne shushes him! And she basically mirrors the same sentiment back at Bog, that he showed during the protection scene. Marianne can’t stand the thought of Bog not being who he is, and frankly, she finds it a little disgusting that he would even think she would want that. “Maybe I should take it from here,” translates to, “No BB, you don’t get me AT ALL.” And when she starts singing “Wild Thing” Bog is so happily floored and surprised, because this is Marianne’s way of saying, “I love you the way you are, because of WHO you are. I don’t want you to change. You’re a wild thing.”
And Bog is SO happy, because this is so completely above and beyond his every expectation. He would have been happy enough just to be loved, he never once thought that he wouldn’t have to change anything about himself to get that.
This movie is just… It gives me SO many feels, and it just breaks my heart it did so poorly.
