Setting up a Weekly Devotional Practice
If youâre anything like me, you probably have a lot of desire to be more consistent/intentional about your craft but you get busy a lot and also sometimes canât come up with ideas for things to do! Hereâs my new weekly devotional schedule, which may help you find some inspiration.
Sunday: devoted to the Sun, this day is good for power and self-reflection. I set an intention to meditate for a few minutes on this day.
Monday: devoted to the Moon, this day is good for intuition and spirituality. A good day to spend a few minutes invoking your deity(s) and expressing your desires or simply communing
Tuesday: devoted to Mars, this day is good for passion and strength. I associate Mars with self-confidence and identity, so I set an intention to spend a little time doing something I love or am skilled at as a devotional act. For me that means art, but for you it may be dancing, playing music, cooking, exercise, community service, etc
Wednesday: devoted to Mercury, this is a day for wisdom and divination. A good day to do a quick tarot reading for yourself to either reflect on the past week or prepare for the upcoming week
Thursday: devoted to Jupiter, this is a day of stability. I set an intention to spend a few minutes doing a grounding ritual or simply a breathing exercise to help myself feel more grounded
Friday: devoted to Venus, this is a day of love and creativity. A good day to do a spell, or if you donât have the time, say or write some positive affirmations
Saturday: devoted to Saturn, this is a day of banishing/protective energy. I set an intention to do a cleansing ritual on this day. Usually for me this means burning incense or literally cleaning my home with a spiritual intention, but if I have less time/energy it can simply mean taking a moment to let go of negativity from the past week and manifest protection around myself.
Tips: 1) if you want to, you can use the moon phases and/or sabbats as a guide to set a theme for each week; for example, you might focus on health for a week, love the next week, prosperity the next. 2) It helps to write down your schedule in your notebook (if you keep one) so that you remember what to do each day! 3) Donât be too hard on yourself if you canât follow your schedule! Your practice should be soothing and not a chore. If the plan youâve set for yourself doesnât work well for you, adjust it so that itâs easier
The Harvest Micromoon and the Mystic Rectangle
Astrology by Lisa Stardust
The Harvest Moon is here and that means summer is almost at a close. Under this luminary, we will embrace the beginning of a new season (which will happen shortly), while releasing old and stagnant emotions. The Harvest Moon is a fruitful and productive time for us all to take stock of our dreams and desires. If youâre lucky enough (or unlucky) to live on the West Coast, this Harvest Moon will coincide with Friday the 13th (ONLY if you live on the West Coast in the USA). Itâs the last Friday the 13th Full Moon until 2049 and the first since 2000.Â
This particular luminary sets off the âmystic rectangleâ in the cosmos. A mystic rectangle occurs when there are two oppositions and a soft aspect (like a trine or sextile) giving these cosmic connections energy. In this case, the Sun and the Moon are in opposition just as Mars and Neptune are in opposition. Saturnâs close alignment with the karmic South Node of Destiny will empower these aspects to let go of the old once and for all. We are now celestially encouraged to fight for our dreamsâeven if it means tearful endings along the way. The Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Mars, and Neptune are all tightly locked together in a few T-Squares, which may make us fearful of saying goodbye to our old selves. The fixed star Markab, whoâs known as âthe star of sorrow,â is activated by the Full Moon. Try to be cognizant of the energy thatâs being projected and received, as all this Piscean water is making us absorb emotions and anxieties from others. Itâs also very important to check in ourselves and others today, as we all need extra TLC.Â
This luminary is also a âMicromoon.â When the Moon is distant from the Earth, itâs called a âMicromoonâ because it appears smaller and less vibrant in the sky. Although itâs far from us, we will still feel the intensity of this luminary on Earth. No matter what size the Full Moon is, we will always feel the maximum affects. But, we will have additional time to muddle through our emotions and make decisions from Mars and Neptuneâs opposition. Allowing ourselves time and patience today will be beneficial. Donât rush the emotional process.
Under all Full Moons, itâs important for us all to honor Luna and her magnificence. Also, we must embrace her beauty. Regardless of the personal drama or annoyances that come out way, itâs essential for us all to stay connected to ourselves and grounded within our bodies. Others may try to bring us down by projecting their negative emotions onto us, but with the proper magical remedy our bodies and minds can disconnect from their energy.
Harvest Micromoon Bath and Meditation
Ingredients for Bath
Moon Water (this is optional)
½ Cup of Himalayan Sea Salt or Table Salt
2-3 Cups of MilkÂ
½ Cup of ChamomileÂ
Âź Cup of Lavender or a few drops of lavender oil (as much as you want)
Amethyst CrystalsÂ
CandlesÂ
Directions for Bath
Energize water under the Moon, allowing it to absorb the lunar vibrations. If you cannot make Moon Water, regular bath water is fine.
Add Himalayan salt or regular salt to a bath for cleansing.Â
Add the milk to the warm water to the bathtub. The milk will help detox your body.Â
Add chamomile to the bath to calm your anxieties and nerves.Â
Add fresh lavender or lavender oil to the bath in order to destress the body.Â
*Please Note: If you do not have a bathtub, you can mix these ingredients together and pour it over your body in a shower.
Mediation:
Place the amethyst crystal on your crown chakra. Think of circumstances and people in your life who are projecting their issues onto you. Breathe in and out. As you exhale, imagine their negativity leaving your body, like a string pulling their energy out from within you. Mediate for 15 minutes in the bath. As the water washes away and cleans your energetic field, you will begin to feel at peace and grounded in yourself without the buildup of toxicity.Â
*Please Note: You can do the meditation in or out of the bath/shower.Â
*The Harvest Micromoon occurs at 9:33PM PST and at on September 13th and at 12:33AM EST on September 14th.

â¨Spellsâ¨
Hereâs another little lesson thatâs on Spells, Spellwork, Ritualwork, etc. My coven does a lot of lessons for witches and witchlings~! I hope this helps you all. If you have any questions, my inbox is always open!
Dictionary Definition of a Spell: A spell is a spoken or written formula that when used in an act of magick is intended to cause or influence a particular course of events.
Spells, Charms, Hexes, Curses, oh my! This is that part of witchcraft where everyone gets into, and most often the topic you hear when you hear the word âwitchcraftâ itself. Today in this Lecture we will talk about the details and magick of Spells.
Whatâs in the structure of the magickal spell?
There are 5 tips that will help create the spell itself:
Intention
Will
Desire
Knowledge
Visualization
Intention: What you aim for.
Will: Your determination and courage
Desire: Your interest of the spell
Knowledge: How much you know about the spell (associations)
Visualization: The magickal process
Another form of magick crafting and structuring, is the Witches Pyramid.
To Dare - Audere
Water - West
Audere is associated with courage. It is the witches emotions of the spell, as well as their intent. Itâs their drive to make the spell. They dare themselves to surrender and follow the universal energies to solve the situation they desire. They dare themselves to do magick without fear or self-doubt.
Association: Â the witchâs emotions â heart â sense of challenge â drive to overcome and courage.
To Will - Velle
Fire - South
Velle is where morality stands. This is the belief system, what their conviction and how it will manifest the magic. You donât want to curse when you donât think itâs right. This is how your opinion is on the matter of the magick. This is also the internal drive of your magick.
Association: Â the witchâs will â belief system â discipline â application of magical skills â approach to life â approach to magic.
To Know - Noscere
Air - East
Noscere is the knowledge you need to conduct the spell. Thereâs of course knowing what to do, the associations that go along with the spell(ie. Materials) and your reasoning and understanding. The more the witch learns, understands, and continues to learn, the more powerful and effective the magick will be. This is where you have to know yourself, your craft, and continue to apply your knowledge then. Intuition applies.
Association: Â reason â intellect â intuition â wisdom -psychic awareness -abilities â rationalising â analysing â imagining â skills in the art of magic and mystical knowledge gained on any level, either through tutors on the earthplane or those from other realms.
To keep silent - Tacere
Earth - North
Tacere is the quiet understanding, and that not everything magickal needs to be shared. Sometimes there is power in silence and understanding. Some things are just better understood than spoken about. This also applies to internal silence, the grounding and centering before any spell. Still and clear channels are made before invoking energies.
Associated with inner calm, silent knowing, protecting sacred knowledge.
To Go - Ire
Spirit
Ire is the magick manifesting. It is the point to where the magick is made and directed and going forth. This is also applying to âforget and move onâ. If you keep thinking about the spell you made and hoping so much for it to work, the energies will be still trapped within. The moment you forget and move on, the magick flows freely forth. Ire brings the 4 elements into balance. Ire is also the product of the spell.
This is very important, and if any one of the 4 balancing base elements are affected, the spell may be affected itself. If you have trouble getting a successful spell, try and reflect over the Witches pyramid and what couldâve improved. Another thing to remember is to be patient. You donât want to cast a spell, and after being impatient on itâs product, conducting another spell to help it, and another, only to have it all be effective simultaneously, creating a mess.
Now after learning the structure of the spell, letâs learn the different types!
Types of Spells
The 3 Câs:
Consecrating: blessing and making something sacred
Charging: to fill an item with an intended energy
Cleansing: Literally cleansing or removing of negative energies to a specific person, thing, place, or situation/event.
Blessings: Bringing positive energy(of a certain intent or just in general) to a specific person, thing, place, or situation/event. Bringing upon good luck.
Glamour: Charming an item or being to give an illusion of a changed appearance
Jar spells: Doing a spell charm using jars.
Charms, Amulets, and Talismans: Often enhancements on a specific item with a certain intent.
Negative/Punishing offense Magick: These are often the âdarkâ part of magick, where the intent is darker and tend to be more negative.
Curses: Any spell meant to cause harm(Physical, Psychologically, or emotionally) to someone of something..
Jinx: A spell that causes repetitive and/or continual bad luck(Normally the intent is to cause irritation)
Hexes: A minor Curse, not as powerful or last as long as a curse.
Binding: restricts the person/entity from doing something. Normally cast to keep the person/entity from hurting themselves or others. Also can be reversible.
Materials, Tools, and Ingredients
Materials, Tools, and ingredients are what help give that spell an âUMPHâ. Some people see it as an enhancement to the spell, or, to compare, possibly a recipe to a great big food(metaphorically speaking). The most important tool is yourself, Remember that. Without you, the magick canât be made. You can make the spell by yourself, and you donât NEED the ingredients.
The first thing to start off in this are the associations made. How to associate the Materials, Tools, and Ingredients? USE YOUR INTUITION. Itâs way more accurate than others. If you donât feel as though this certain association fits, then use the association that you think would fit best. I will list down some basics and commons on associations, but do not follow if you do not âvibeâ with it.
Crystals: used to enhance the energy of an area/person, and possibly charge an item(for example, gem water)
Some known examples:
Amethyst - Calm, Sobriety, Psychic enhancement/awareness
Quartz - universal energy enhancer, substitute for any crystal(all-purpose stone)
Rose Quartz - Love, Romance, Peace
Herbs: Used to enhance the spell by burning, mixing, ingesting, brewing, etc.
Examples:
Lavender: Calmness, Peace
Cinnamon: Fire, Enhancement, Power, Courage
Pink -Â Permanent rather than passionate love, Compassion, Gentleness
Magenta -Â Powerful energy source, Transformation
Red -Â Love, Passion, Strong emotions, Strength, Anger, Transformation, Truth
Orange -Â Activity, Change, Dynamism
Yellow -Â Intellect, understanding, Air, Travel, Comprehension, Memory
Green -Â Money, Prosperity, Luck, Stability
Blue -Â Relaxation, Peace, Healing
Purple -Â Psychic, Deep relaxation, Meditation, Magick
Beige -Â Sweet Sentiments, Permanent Tranquility
Brown -Â Earthy, Justice, Balance, Moderation, Stability
Silver -Â Moon, Intuition, Artemis
Gold -Â Sun, Strength, Apollo
Black -Â Mystery, Letting go, moving on, Banishing, Necromancy, Control negative forces
White -Â Substitute for any other color, enhances energy of other colors, Purity, Cleansing, Healing, Divine.
This list is also a great quick reference to candle colors, as they can be used to also invoke specific energies and intentions.
Circles and Rituals
Dictionary definition of Ritual: a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order
Rituals are, as the dictionary says, a ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed in a certain order. Not every spell is a ritual, but not every ritual is a spell. Circles are temporary protective spaces used to conduct rituals. Sometimes, certain rituals can drain, so remember to ground and center!
Making your own spells vs. using other spells
Thereâs a lot of controversy on spell making and using others spells. For my opinion, itâs whatever you want to do! Some people just canât write spells and itâs okay! I think of spells as a recipe. You can share one, share them, and others can follow as well. As long as you follow the instructions itâs okay. Remember, the magick comes from you. Now itâs up to you on how to direct it and structure it.
In ConclusionâŚ
Spells are a spoken or written formula that when used in an act of magick is intended to cause or influence a particular course of events. They are what gets a lot of people into witchcraft. There is a structure in every spell, and following it can help outline the spell. There are many different kinds, from blessings to curses. Some spells require materials, tools, and ingredients, and itâs up to you whether it fits with associations. Circles and rituals make up some spells and itâs also up to you.

You just have to Look
The gods havenât left us, but some say they are forgotten
Zeus roars his battle cry as lightning strikes skyscrapers and thunder rolls over corn fields and grassy plains.
Hera sings a lullaby to the crying newborn babies every night and hold the hand of those born early, those fighting to survive.
Artemis screams her protest in the voices of every woman, young and old, as they raise their fists for equality.
Demeter whistles through the streets of cities, rustling the leaves of scarce trees, reminding the concrete jungle of the jungles around them.
Poseidon bellows through the foghorns of steam ships, cruise liners and cargo ships as they dock into the harbour.
Hephaestus hammers his forgeâs red fires with the punch of a time-clock and in the muscles strains of the working man.
Apollo blasts his voice through every headphone, earbud and speaker turned way too loud.
Aresâ battle cry echoes through a stadium as the crowd cheers after a national anthem is played.
Aphrodite whispers in the giggles and âI love you"s said between lovers intimating.
Hermes laughs in the roar of every engine and the gurgle of gasoline through the pump.
Dionysus cheers in the spirit of every young person celebrating themselves and making their lives enjoyable.
Athena hums in the silence of a late night library visit, in the turn of a page and the scratch of a pen.
Hestia smiles in every host saying âcome inâ, in every ovenâs beeping, and the sigh of relaxation in ones home.
Hades beams in every dark humoured joke, in every Halloween night, and in every morning after.
They say the gods are gone, forgotten and a world away. But they are here, if you look for them.
