Project Completed with UCLA Fielding School of Public Health
The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health initially created an app prototype, LINX, designed to create a community among MSM (men who have sex with men) who were HIV positive and primarily brown/black. LINX 2.0 was an iteration of this initial app that was designed primarily to provide access to PREP, a combination of drugs designed to prevent HIV, in MSM who were at higher risk of contracting HIV. LINX 2.0 contained pages to refer friends, connect with PREP counselors, and keep up with current news and events relating to the community of MSM who had HIV or who were on PREP. The bottom image is the prototype for the initial LINX app, while the top two pages are wireframes that are intended to fit in with the aesthetic and design of the original app.
For this project, me and a team of two other UX researchers and designers conducted preliminary research by interviewing employees and healthcare providers of APLA, a clinic that offered PREP to see what app elements would be useful for or applicable to their target demographic. Then, we created low fidelity and later high fidelity wireframes of the main additions to the new app, the event page and referral page. Since the client wanted to keep the feel of the app in line with the original app, we did not make any great changes to the sign in page and the profile pages of the app, as the elements on those pages did not change from LINX 2.0.
