Bon, as a character, is very much in line with what hares typically embody as an archetype. This is largely speculative and could have no actual relevance to the choice of a hare in this piece, but it’s a good excuse to overanalyze.

Anyways, hares primarily represent the sacred feminine as an archetype. The hare additionally represents; Rebirth, Trickery, Intuition. Just to name the few three that I find specifically relevant to Bon.

Each of these three things are in some way deeply connected to Bon’s character with what we’ve seen of him so far, rebirth being the most obvious.

The Walten Files, and more specifically Bon, has always very intimately explored the topic of rebirth; both in a literal and spiritual sense. Bon posits constantly the newness and freshness of both him and his victims new “bodies,” as well as wonderland itself. This is similar to how hares represent primarily new beginnings which can come from death and rebirth; Spring from Winter, Birth from Death.

Not to much else to touch upon as far as that is concerned, but to me it’s very affirming in the way Bon really views his actions. Like, he sees himself, or maybe just is this preternatural archetypal force which holds power over the nature of death and rebirth; or at the very least an embodiment like the hare.

Touching up on those other two, Bon is a character which relies primarily on his own trickery and intelligence. Arrogant as he probably is, he’s definitely no brute. So far all of his victims didn’t even become aware of his intent, hell even his presence, until they had fallen into a point of no return. He’s swift, intuitive, and seemingly patient in how he draws in his victims.

It’s part of what makes him so interesting as a villain to me, that sort of practical intelligence which kind of contradicts his usual presentation as being a giant killer robot. He’s definitely got an ego, but is in no way stupid. He picks his victims carefully, he has a silver tongue to corral/keep them in a state of confusion and powerlessness, and seems to have a keen understanding of his own actions and how to get away with them. Swiftness and trickery, all things the hare embodies.
