Chinch Bugs vs. St. Augustine Grass
Chinch Bugs vs. St. Augustine Grass
One of the top predators of St. Augustine grass is the Chinch bug, or Blissus insularis for all you entomologists out there. The Chinch bug has been known to feed on zoysia grass, bermuda grass, and centipede grass, but it’s favorite meal is St. Augustine. From immaturity to adult, this bug sucks the sap out of the grass itself, while at the same time injecting a toxin that turns the area brown and eventually kills it.
