“No,” you stated sternly while looking at the winged hero’s eyes. You could see his amusement while staring at your irritated face. “You may not,” you added earning a smirk from Hawks. It was far from the charming smile he gave you for the last three days. You took a step forward when the line moved, ignoring him and his silly request.
“Mind if I cut in?” he asked once again which made you clench your fist. You sharply turned to Hawks. “What?” he asked you after a student took a step back to let him take her place, which was right behind you. Oh, you felt terrible for that student. “Are you avoiding me? I thought we’re already an acquaintance.”
You scoffed. “Acquaintance, my ass.” You pursed your lips as you took a deep breath. You cannot allow him to ruin your day when it was just starting. Hell, you even had to wake up an hour earlier than usual just to avoid meeting him, but look who’s right behind you.
“Is it because you arrived late at work yesterday and the day before that?”
“How did you know that?” you asked before reciting your order at the cashier.
“Well, it’s like I’ve followed you, but I actually don’t?” You glanced at him after handing your payment to the cashier.
“That’s creepy,” you commented before walking towards an empty table near the counter. You watched him recite his order, similar to the one he got when you first met him in person. He, then, made his way towards your table before occupying the vacant seat right across yours. “Mind explaining what you meant earlier?”
“Oh,” he chuckled before leaning forward. “Well, I. . .uh. . . arrived here three days ago for some. . .” he shifted on his seat before smiling. “. . .business. I was just planning to grab something to eat before going to. . . well. . . somewhere. I just happened to meet you here.”
Your name was called at the counter so you made your way to get your orders. Not long after, it was Hawks’ who was claiming his orders. You were already on your way out when someone held your free hand. “Yes?” you asked.
“Well, I’ll be returning to the city the day after tomorrow. Do you mind if I ask you for a coffee date tomorrow? After work, that is.”
Your eyes widened before briefly looking down at your black pumps. “I’ll be out around five.”
He smiled warmly before kissing the back of your hand. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then,” he said before tapping your hand. “You should go now, you know. Or else, you’ll be late again.”
“Oh crap,” you grumbled before running out of the coffee shop.
“I’ll see you tomorrow!” you heard him shouted from afar. You, on the other hand, could no longer keep yourself from smiling. ‘A date with Hawks, huh? Marvelous!’
