on the upside I can fix the wierd partitioning I did and try getting mint to work again
I think I might make a main partition and a second small backup one in case I really fuck something up again. make things a lil easier by at least having a functioning gui. helps that I know how to access other partitions now
trying to move all my important shit to a usb drive after a borked update necessitating I reinstall the os, but I copied a bunch of pieces super weirdly so I've gotta delete everything on it for space. and apparently that takes a very long time. it's slated to take an hour and a half.
yk I was really hoping to do some schoolwork today but this figure out and fix project has taken an entire day so far. I've only just figured out how to properly copy things from the borked partition to the usb while booting from another. then I've gotta actually move everything once the wierd stuff is deleted (another 1.5h) and then after setting up a new os install transfer back to the main drive which'll take yet another 1.5h

friend who thinks about family annihilators too much: you know if that guy also had kids he would be a family annihilator
friend who thinks about family annihilators too much: you don't get it, this is important because of how we as a society react to the crime. a guy who kills his wife is not seen as on the level of evil as a family annihilator even with the exact same pathology and potential. a lot of mass shooters had records of domestic violence but they were not considered such a threat until they escalated. why is hurting women never a warning sign? there is more concern over the future of a man who hurts an animal than one who hurts a woman. if he hurts an animal, he's acting like a serial killer. if he hurts a woman, it's one mistake that shouldn't ruin his life. do you ever think about that
Drugs are morally neutral. Doing or not doing drugs is not an indicator of how good a person is. There are addicts who’d give you the shirt off their back, and sober people who poison the homeless for fun.
no! doing drugs isn't just bad!
Drinking alcohol (a drug) isn't bad, it has benefits to using it along with health risks.
Smoking cannabis isn't bad, it has benefits to using it along with health risks.
Using amphetamines (prescribed or illicit) isn't bad, it has benefits to using them along with health risks.
There are a lot of reasons might use drugs, and as a general rule, people's reasons are quite rational. Wanting to fit and have fun in at a wedding party is a super normal reason to consume alcohol. If used correctly, in can do exactly that. At the same time, alcohol even in small amounts has a huge list of health risks. That's fine. If you're making an informed decision about your life I have no complaints.
Similarly, someone might want to consume large amounts of alcohol daily to manage mental health issues like anxiety. It's still morally fine, like drinking at the wedding party. The only big issues are that it might not be effective long term, and it has health risks. With significant daily consumption, alcohol gets quite risky healthwise.
With amphetamines, people often use them to manage things like ADHD. A lot of the time people get prescribed amphetamines to get them. Some people take illicit street amphetamines. A lot of street amphetamines are chemically identical to ones that are prescribed. If the supply is safe and the person uses them in moderation, they can then also be used just like prescribed amphetamines. Some people do this! It has benefits (alleviating ADHD symptoms), and risks (all amphetamines have issues such as raising blood pressure, and illicit amphetamines have additional risks related to contaminants, the routes people tend to take them by such as smoking, and difficulty using the lowest effective dose)
All drugs have benefits and health risks. Including drugs that aren't psychoactive or have no recreational potential. Like antidepressants, tylenol, diabetes medication etc. And on that, there's no meaningful difference between drugs (illegal, used to get high) and drugs (legal, prescribed for medical use). A lot of the time they are the same thing, just in different contexts.
So anyways if you're going to use any recreational drugs such as alcohol, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just make sure you have a reasonable understanding of the benefits and risks so you're making an informed decision!

apricot seeds look like little almonds if you crack the shell off! they are in the same genus so it makes sense. They taste like slightly sweet almonds. very yummy. unfortunately they contain a cyanogenic glycoside so they're toxic :(
im gonna see if shelling them will let me germinate them without overwintering them first
Through accidental circumstances on both of your parts, you learn that your roommate like to throatfuck his fish before he cooks it for himself. Condom on of course, to prevent a UTI. Is he morally perverse, or is he just really gross and wierd?
He's not actually done anything immoral. There's no material harm. Just make sure not to steal his leftovers. Not that you'd want them now anyways.
Really if I'm totally truthful the only thing immoral about that situation is paying for someone to kill a fish on your behalf. It does actual harm. To the fish. Fucking the fish after the fact doesn't make things worse for it cause it's already dead.
I think this hypothetical is very telling of their understanding of morality. What is amoral is simply what disgusts them. Because it's actually true that, as an atheist, there's nothing morally wrong with having sex with an animal carcass. As I judge morality based on material harm, and such an action has no victim that is harmed. However, I would still never do something like that myself and would be put off by witnessing or even hearing about someone committing such an act. Because it's gross. It's absolutely disgusting. Which is why they understand it to be morally repugnant. Because their moral compass is based almost entirely around their disgust response.
got asked my pronouns today... cringe... im cringing.... u've known me for two weeks and assumed the right ones... it's wokely placed in my email signature....................
apparently this is the consequence of being too knowledgeable on what lab tests a trans client needs during rounds. are my options literally letting medical malpractice level shitty dosage without monitoring or changes for years on end without at least a referral to a trans care specialist slide without note or pointing myself out as local tranny at work

taking suggestions for any small toxic nightshades that could be a pretty houseplant. especially anticholinergic containing plants. I like atropa belladonna but I fear it's too big.
on that note any other pretty and toxic houseplants too
some plants that seem neat: mandrake (small, anticholinergic, probably hard to get given its conservation status idk) , monkshood (very pretty flowers), gloriosa superbia, scopolia carniolica (prettier than mandrake)

I've been wanting to grow cannabis for a while, because it'd be a pretty houseplant and I think it smells nice. However canadian laws around cannabis are kinda shit. Because I only care about a pretty plant, I'm not fussed about THC content. If anything I'd prefer lower, because then I might be able to eat the seeds or make teas. You'd think I'd be able to grow an industrial hemp cultivar (less than 0.3% THC and THC-A by dried weight), but no! You need a licence to grow those cultivars, otherwise it looks like it's treated the same as growing recreational cultivars. I'm not bothering to look into a licence because they're obviously intended for commercial production and require things like testing the crops. Not owning pretty houseplants. For personal cultivation there does not appear to be any provision for industrial cultivars, so I'd have to follow the rules for personal cultivation of recreational cannabis. I would be allowed a maximum of 4 plants which I guess I could do but given they're a dieocious plant I'd risk having all 4 plants being the same sex with a recreational cultivar. Which btw are way easier to acquire than an industrial cultivar. I'd like them to be different sexes so I can get more viable seeds in case I wanna cut them down and replant another time. The other restriction, which is more significant for me, is that I wouldn't be able to let them be visible from a public place! So you're not supposed to be able to see them from outside, lest a child be scarred by the obscenity of a houseplant! Even if it was an industrial cultivar. This isn't the case with other recreational drugs. For example, I could grow tobacco with essentially no restriction. I don't want to because I think it's kinda ugly though. Cannabis and tobacco can only be be bought by adults where I live. Although there are significant restrictions on the possession of cannabis and sale of cannabis that do not apply to tobacco. Meanwhile tobacco is known to be more harmful in typical recreational use. And only one of the two is apparently too obscene to be a pretty houseplant that lives on my kitchen counter.
u can add 20g of coconut oil to a protein shake adding scant more than a faint taste of coconut and 180 extra calories. I see more coconut oil in my future
