     She blinks, once, twice, three times at the sight in front of her. This was happening again, wasn’t it? That he was suddenly alive and well again?

     Well, stranger things have happened to her after all. This is…the least of what she should worry about.

     But seeing Rantaro Amami alive in front of her again is…still a lot for her to have to deal with. Seeing the survivor, who died by the mastermind’s hands, who was trying to stop the mastermind…it brought out a lot of complicated feelings within her. Who would’ve thought she would care this much when the game first started and when she first saw his dead body in front of her?

     (Maki wonders if she hadn’t changed, would she have felt this confused and yet relived upon seeing him again?)

     “Amami.” she greets, finally having walked over to him. “It’s…nice to see you again. You’ve been here long?”

it sure was. amami has no clue what harukawa may be thinking about — if this amami had been in koi before, he sure had no memories of it.

it’s a lot for amami to deal with, himself— if he knew what exactly he was dealing with. he can’t say he has any idea of what went on after he was knocked out. he remembers the events prior — confusion, a need to stop the game…

alone didn’t work out so well for him, did it? neither did distrust. maybe this had just been a ploy by the mastermind. maybe he’d acted exactly like the mastermind’d wanted, falling into their trap—

that’s a familiar voice.

blinking.

“haha. harukawa-san. you’re here too, yeah?”

surprise flits over his face, before resting into acceptance — an amiable aura surrounds him, hand habitually going to rub at the back of his head. the ultimate child caretaker, was it? he can’t say he expected that talent from her, though that’d be rather rude to say.

“not too long. just barely getting used to the city. has it been long for you? can’t say i expected to turn up here after everything that happened.”

another day, another unknown setting. haha. one could cast him as an isekai protagonist at this point with the amount of new locations he was finding himself in -- while he’d usually woken up in new settings on the daily due to his talent,the past five days had been surreal even to him. mostly because he didn’t expect to be in those locations, ever. including this one.

well -  at least they had a house. close to the heart of the city is exactly how he prefers it. he’s in the kitchen, looking into the fridge -- it’s only after a while he seems to notice the other person, and he blinks before rubbing the back of his neck.

“Looks like we’ll be roommates. Nice to meet you. I’m Amami Rantaro.”

he glances back at the fridge, then back.

welp. when one said they were going on an adventure, usually one envisioned... more outdoorsy settings. the park, perhaps. the shrines were also a good idea. but with only an hour or so left before the sun set... here he was, in fantasy IKEA. 

this is a mess. the roads wind without much rhyme or reason, and amami fluffs a pillow named something even he couldn’t read, before putting it back on the pile. looks like he was in the beds. it’s tempting to go lay on one of them and sleep the night away -- but more logically -- he should get out of here. how long had he spent in here? time sure isn’t real here. it’s liminal territory.

“Hey. Any chance you know the way out of here? Think I’m a bit lost.”

his arrival had been interesting, to say the least. haha, ushered to housing after an announcement that they’d be stuck here? sounds eerily familiar. he’d been given a cellphone, too. wasn’t that just like the monopad? haha.... ha.

well, he’s not about to stay cooped up in his house, no matter how interesting his roommate might be--

it’s when he’s exploring the northern sector, heading to .... fantasy costco when he sees him. a pause, wondering if he should reach out, because... well -- he was dead and ouma was supposed to be ...

well-- no harm. that hair style was rather too similar to pass up.

“Ouma-kun. That you?”

“You know what’s wild?” If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Yuffie just can’t give up on her quest to become the richest ninja in the world! No matter which world she’s in. She’s approached another poor, innocent individual with a scheme in mind. “If you close your eyes and spin in like… six circles fast enough, when you open your eyes again, everything looks upside down! You should totally try it.”

That sure is a stranger telling him to do something silly. Usually, he’d say something like hey, maybe you’d have better luck approaching someone else than a stranger, but something compels him not to. Maybe it’ll help the sciences!

“I’m pretty sure that’s wrong, but...”

You know what? That’s totally fair. Why not? He’s indulged other people in worse things before. He’s sure this is some sort of scam, but hey, who’s he to say. Magical scams! Fall for your scams here! He hopes he stays alive. He has nothing in his pockets, anyway.

“Alright. Here I go.”
