Because I have so many WIP fics, I really shouldn’t dare write more unless they’re oneshots. But this is one AU that’s been in my head for a while, thanks to Viking!AU fanarts. However, I still don’t know how I could put a unique spin on the plot. So here are simple headcanons of it.
If anyone wants to use this to write their own fic, I don’t mind. Just lemme know and credit I guess.
Both Hiccup and Jack are Gobber’s blacksmith apprentices. In Jack’s case, he’s mostly an assistant.
Jack is sort of the official unofficial charge of Trader Johanne, and he house keeps the hut where the man puts up shop when he was staying in the island to sell his wares.
When Jack’s not on duty, he also helps in herding the sheep when Trader Johanne is in his travels and restocking wares. (If I wrote a fic though, Trader Johanne would probably be written off and replaced by either North or Aster)
At first, Jack slept in and resided in the lone hut he’s supposed to be housekeeping for Trader Johanne. Until Hiccup finally offered him to stay over at his place when the trader wasn’t in the island, so Jack wouldn’t have to be alone.
Hiccup still has a crush on Astrid
Jack is Hiccup’s only friend in the island who pokes fun at him without ‘making fun of him.’
Jack has a crush on Hiccup.
Jack is aquaphobic, which was why Trader Johanne/Aster/North finally had him settle down in one of the places he normally visited to make trades and also considered home.
When they’re both free, Hiccup teaches Jack how to swim and help him break out of his phobia, at Jack’s request. They haven’t gotten very far though.
When Gobber started training recruits on Stoick’s orders, Jack’s the only one who doesn’t sign up. He didn’t need to, after all. He wasn’t a Viking by birth. Still, as a sort of Berkian citizen, his service went to medic practices and was still required to learn the fundamentals of self defense.
Lesser dragons kept breaking his herding staff, so he finally had Hiccup forge him something sturdier. Fighting off lesser dragons till someone comes in to finally send them away or capture them was the norm when he watched the flock.
One time, a dragon almost carried Jack off which gave both himself and Hiccup a heart attack. Stoick’s the one who stopped the dragon from doing so (I don’t know how, but let’s just say he did)
Jack pranks Snotlout and the others, well, mostly Snotlout, whenever he pushes Hiccup around. Never right after, or that would be obvious. Luckily, he was good and quick at escaping after the prank’s been pulled. Plus, Snotlout never does notice, and furthermore doesn’t remember, the herd guy. So it was easy for Jack to keep at it.
That’s why Jack wasn’t as unpopular to Tuffnut and the others. They all think Snotlout could be taken down a peg or two. Ruffnut might have a crush on him, too.
Jack doesn’t let Hiccup know he loves pranking Snotlout especially for Hiccup’s honor. After all, he pranks most people every now and then. Even Astrid (okay that was once and he learned to NEVER pull one on her again). He lets Hiccup think he’s only doing it for pure fun.
Hiccup knows Jack pranks Snotlout in his defense. They’re best friends. Of course, why wouldn’t he? He wonders why Jack doesn’t just admit it though.
Of course this is HiJack, so Hiccup will eventually stop crushing on Astrid and HiJack happily ever after lol. And if I ever got far enough to write until 2 and 3, I’d either ship Astrid with Eret or include Jamie into this story as well.

"Eijun stops rambling and stands frozen midstep of the stairs as he heard Miyuki's words."
(Miyuki then expounds his thoughts.)
(And then BAM, his real thoughts.)
“Eijun doesn't know what to think when he hears that, really. Eyes wide, as he stares at those backs he'd been chasing since the start and somehow had shorten the distance over time with blood and sweat, feels as though as it never shrunk in the first place.”
“With the clench in his chest, thoughts unable to form inside his head, words suddenly swallowed and had never had the chance to be uttered ...”
“... at last, Eijun' s body makes a move to turn around.”
(Eijun not hearing the next words being uttered.)
“Eijun sits at the bottom of the dorm's staircase, mulling over his thoughts.”
“He remembers that time at the cafeteria where Miyuki was asked about his thoughts on the pros ...
Head hanging, eyes shadowed by the darkness and this bangs, he thinks back to the time he sees Miyuki practicing hard and still tries to accomodate his requests.”
“And then ...”
“...”

It may have been spontaneous in Miyuki's part to tell Furuya his thoughts since he coincidentally came to him first and maybe it didn't really matter to him who he told first his true thoughts or it may been he's kinda also expecting Furuya won't really give him any serious reply (I mean in Miyuki's standards because kid's really serious just wanting to think about the present just like Eijun) and deep inside miyuki also is expecting that so it may been another reason for him to tell Furuya ..

And it's being said to his number 1 rival, not that it's anybody's fault, but the timing really sucks men ..(-_-)
Like Eijun always wanted acknowledgement from Miyuki (which by the way Miyuki had long done) but to Eijun, things such as confiding about important matters such as this is how he would feel he is really acknowledged, even though it may never have occurred to him before but had been present in his subconciousness all this time ..
(These next paragraphs came from my comment in another soc.med. where I posted some of my thought when the translated chapter hasn't been released and I had painstakingly read the hiragana and katakana only but I just want to add it here)
Sawamura just came from a no-name school (in terms of baseball achievement) since he just built up the team himself together with his friends, of course for him, the thought of going pro suddenly is confusing and overwhelming since he'd always been a guy thinking of the present so he can contribute to the team and asides from being the ace, if you maybe didn't notice, he always thought about his senpais like it would be their last game if they lose so he had to do his best so he can stay together with them even just a game longer ..
Sawamura really gives importance to his teammates and friends and he really treasures the bond he forms with his current teammates ..
It's not like Sawamura had wanted him and Miyuki to be on the same page, he really just wanted Miyuki's acknowledgement and for Eijun, that acknowledgement is not something that would come from words ..
It would come from actions and this time, in his subconsciousness, that action is Miyuki talking to him especially if it's about important aspirations for the future that's why he is disappointed he just heard it and the fact that it coincidentally came from Miyuki and Furuya talking to each other, his rival pitcher at the same year and same age ..
If he just heard it from Miyuki telling Nori or Kuramochi or Zono or Nabe or any senpai of his, it wouldn't matter to him really, he would just be pondering about if he would also seek the same path of being pro ..
On the next pages wherein there's a flashback of strong pitchers and then Furuya, it's along the lines of 'and there is also this great pitcher in here' which refers to Furuya, he just somehow equates that maybe because he's still not that level yet that maybe Miyuki hadn't been able to confide in him ..
And another thing, Eijun aiming the ace number had been his goal and like a promise to himself and his friends from the start ..
It had not been his goal to be ace just because he wanted Miyuki's acknowledgement ..
it just his goals coincidentally coincides with each other, at first it was like a separate thing, wanting to fulfill his first and foremost shouted goal because of his promise to his friends and wanting Miyuki's acknowledgment ..
But as we can see, somewhere down those two paths, the end was the same ..
But in their reality, it was not ..
Because as you can see, even though Eijun already had the ace number he still didn't feel acknowledged ..
But of course, Miyuki had long acknowledged him but you know, every person's standards and level of parameters is not the same when it comes to these sentiments such as 'acknowledging' so yeah of course they won't match in that, too ..
This chapter is messing up my head like why does this have to be last chapter before the break???
Anyways, my head and heart hurts so yeah ..

I had a penpal from Greece in high school. She had the neatest handwriting ever. She taught me a bunch of basic stuff, and it got to the point that we’d write our letters almost exclusively in Greek (a big deal, as this was before Google Translate was even a thing).
Cut to junior year of college. I took Classical Greek as part of my degree, and I was feeling like I had a leg up over my classmates, whose Greek handwriting looked like kindergarten chicken scratch, while mine was smooth and quick. I turned in my first assignment feeling pretty damn proud of myself.
About three assignments later, my professor pulled me aside with the goofiest look on his face…

Despite Eijun whining about Amahisa being persitent, our boy's just so pure and kind in his roots and because he somehow knew kousei, even if he deny that they are 'not' friends, they still became somewhat 'friends' like someone they can talk to about baseball - someone other than team mates and friends ..
That line "I shouldn't have agreed to exchange line contact info with him after all" ..
ah .... he must somehow gotten attached even a little bit ..

You know what is so wonderful about Mairimashita! Iruma-kun? The way everyone is so supportive of each other!
Sullivan and Opera put absolutely no pressure on Iruma to raise his rank. They couldn’t care less if Iruma didn’t raise his rank at all but when he wants to raise his rank they are happy to support him. While they think he’s going to pass his exams, they celebrate like hell even though he wasn’t the best at the exams. It’s important to note that Iruma also didn’t tell them he was struggling because he didn’t want to disappoint them.
Asmodeus scolded himself for thinking that Iruma had no interest in raising his ranks, which means that he knew Iruma orginally had no ambition. He knows Iruma is more fragile than others, both from seeing him train and seeing his injured hands. He knows how easily Iruma can be hurt. That never stopped him from admiring and respecting him.
Clara does not care about strength at all. She’s just so happy Iruma and Asmodeus want to be her friends. She also has a damn adorable relationship with Sabnock who lets her climb all over him like a little kid. When she asks for love advice the boys try their best though they don’t know much about it. She later makes friends with Ameri, Kurori and Elizabeth and they have so much fun together!
Sabnock knows Iruma is weak. When they flew on the mountain king’s back he basically put Iruma on his lap so that he doesn’t fly away because he’s so small. When they play dodgeball he knows that Iruma is no good at attacking. What is his reaction that his rival is so much weaker than him? He tells him to leave it to him and praises him for catching the ball. There’s no insult, no aggression, no yelling that Iruma should get a grip of himself, no telling him that he’s pathetic, which is all too common with other manga rivals. When he’s in the same group as Iruma he’s happy to have him and to work with him. When he’s in the same fun group as Iruma he’s contend to let Iruma do what he wants because he’s just so damn happy and excited about going there with everyone.
Ameri is a really good senpai to Iruma. She gently encourages him to raise his rank until he finds an ambition of his own and later when her personality changes he gives her the same advice. In his “evil phase” he actually does the same to his classmates, because he cares about all of them and does not want them to be treated badly by the other students.
After Iruma’s “evil circle” Clara and Asmodeus cling to Iruma non-stop and the only comment that this gets that they are spoilt and that Iruma probably needs help. There’s no mockery about it at all, just a bit of teasing that Iruma is popular. They all try to help Iruma by baiting them (with snacks and hugs). When all coaxing fails they all just pile on top of Iruma like a honest to hell puppy pile and that’s just damn precious?
They are all happy to learn together and go to the amusement park together. They all have fun together and when Iruma get’s lost everyone is worried about him.
While especially, Asmodeus and Sabnock took an interest in Iruma because they thought he was strong, they stayed for his personality. They stayed for his kindness, determination and willingness to help others. They see him for who he is and don’t see it as weakness. They see is as something wonderful.
