Oh absolutely.

So just a little disclaimer, while I see them both as being a little possessive of each other in their own ways, I don't think either of them are aggressively possessive. They're jealous of each other's attention, especially with how quickly they got on the same brainwave. And there's a lot of jealous Viktor content out there (not for no reason. Listen I love Jayvikmel and think in an ideal world there's a wonderful dynamic of Mel going "this is my boyfriend Jayce and this is Jayce's soulmate, Viktor" but I can't deny the looks Viktor shoots when Mel is around.)

But I DIGRESS. My point IS that there's a lot of jealously pining/possessive Viktor content BUT I think there's just as strong, if not a stronger, case to be made for possessive Jayce.

Because Jayce is already, in canon, very protective of Viktor. And being protective is like one half step and a shuffle from being possessive. That's the whole reason possessiveness is so easily romanticized, because of the protected and cherished feelings it can elicit. It's why a more toxic expression of possessiveness is an erotic fantasy!

And Jayce's protectiveness over Viktor is already SUPER physical. I know I know. We all know. It's like "yeah yeah Jayce can't stop touching Viktor I've seen it before"

But I can't get over how it's not just constant back touches. When Jayce reaches for Viktor he almost always puts himself to the side, facing Viktor with his arm wrapped around to Viktor's back. It's a very shielding stance that he falls into around Viktor like that's his natural state. In the bottom right one Jayce only starts to reach, but he still turns his torso so that it's facing Viktor.

Even when they aren't touching, it's like his natural stance around Viktor is squared the fuck up between Viktor and the world, or practically looming protectively over him.

Fandom rightly assigns Jayce as a sweet puppydog of a man. I often call him a golden retriever with the anxiety and energy levels of a husky. But with Viktor?

Jayce is possessive over Viktor the way a guard dog is possessive.

Jayce isn't unaware unaware of the differences in their physique or the fact that Viktor is actively deteriorating. He's also well aware of the fact that he can take a hit, where Viktor can't.

Remember, Jayce had to watch his mother collapse and nearly die, and he couldn't do shit all about it. He was helpless, alone and desperate. We can assume that at this point, it's only him and his mom, that's his last bit of family, and he can't do anything to help.

Now there's Viktor. Viktor who has quite literally saved Jayce's life, given him back his purpose. Not only that, they have improved on that dream together. And now, this new family of his, thus man who saw his potential when even his mother had given up on him, is slowly waisting away in front of him.

The purpose of HexTech is to improve the lives of the common people, yes, but as time goes on, for Jayce, it becomes more and more about saving Viktor.

Jayce puts himself physically between Viktor and anyone else because he can't protect Viktor from the disease that's inside him. This is also why he's so awed and excited with Hexcore, it's the best solution they've encountered so far! And he doesn't place himself between Viktor and the plant until it starts to die. As soon as the 'solution' presents itself as a problem or possible threat, Jayce places himself between it and Viktor.
