Right. I wish it was less sad, though I guess there’s no avoiding that.

“On the bright side, it won’t be long ‘til you’re graduating as well. The last year goes by in the blink of an eye, I promise.”

“I could do that for you, so you don’t have to get blood under your nails.”

Guess it wouldn’t be graduation without a bunch of crying people, right?

“It’s only natural for people to cry in preparation of missing others that they care about.”

She spares a glance up towards him then heaves a heavy sigh. Normally, she’d be at least inwardly pleased with the attention she was receiving, though she couldn’t even find it in herself to feel that way. “My brother sent me an owl about how he’s getting married to some bitch.” She replied, clenching her jaw.

Walden looked at Leila with concern. This was not how the girl usually acted, not around him at least. Unlike most people, Walden actually cared for the girl and it made him furious to see her so upset, not that he showed it on the surface. “If she’s so terrible, certainly you could talk to your brother and get him to call the whole thing off.”

Walden walks into the Great Hall, spotting Leila looking anything but herself. He makes his way over to her quietly, kissing the top of her head before sitting down next to her. “What’s wrong, love?”

oh, the likes of you could never understand the likes of me

“Yes and it simply breaks my heart.”

You promise? 

“I promise.”

that’s a great mantra for you to have

“It helps me understand the likes of you.”

“Are you seriously jealous right now?”

“Jealous? No. Just disappointed that I missed out on a chance to torture someone.”

“Oh, would you? That would be very, very lovely.”

“Lucky for you, I have a knack for charms.”

maybe, but I have more fun

“Well, they do say that ignorance is bliss.”

“Maybe you should have had Evan throw it.”

or because I’m a skilled master of my craft

“You may be skilled, but unfortunately not as much as I am. Torturing is an art, Rosier, and no offense, but you don’t strike me as the artistic type.”

[Stumbles a little as the spell hits her. Her eyes glaze over momentarily, before she refocuses back on him and smiles.]

Walden smiles at her in return. “I’ve been asking myself that for weeks, Andromeda. You and I, we will do great things together.”
