The next AM 800 Sound release comes to us from the new experimental/ambient trio Purna. Their debut album "Grachiel" is a stunningly bleak, yet rich and foggy six-song journey seeking to provide you with a respite from your daily reality.

Founded by members of No Grave Like The Sea and Katmai, the debut album "Grachiel" was recorded in separate homes and arranged together from the winter of 2016 through the spring of 2017. Grachiel was mastered by Matt Labozza of Studio G, New York.

In celebration of a successful launch and productive couple of seasons releasing, we gathered our time and resources to orchestrate the first in a series of live performances featuring artists from this collective and others we love and are close with.

Live at Matchless Bar in Brooklyn, NY, the AM 800 Sound Showcase 1 was held on Friday November 11th 2016.  The evening featured performances by Katmai, Hotel Neon, No Grave Like The Sea (complete with a full horn section and keyboard/synthesizer), and Signal Hill, who were able to coordinate the full band from far and wide around the globe.

The evening was an even greater response than originally anticipated, with full capacity reached, free silk-screened show posters given away, and some proceeds of merch sales donated to the SPLC, ACLU, and L&LS.  It was the most fun and love we could have possibly asked for, and can’t wait to host another in 2017.

On this first full day of fall, we are super happy to share our new record alturas with you.

It should now be available on all the usual locations (iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify, etc) and right from our own bandcamp! (hint hint:  if you buy direct from us, we have a little treat we are cooking up that should see the light of day in the next week or so!)

Thank you so much to everyone who’s pre-ordered, shared, or even just listened to the first tracks. We are really proud of it and hope you all enjoy it.

There are still a few of the deluxe bundles left and just a little more than a few of the copies of vinyl available (only 250 pressed).

For those of you wondering about CD’s, we are working on a limited run of those that we aim to have by early November in time for our LA and NYC shows. More to come on the cd release soon!

We’re proud to announce our second release, Songs For Scenic Routes. The debut full length by Katmai (moniker of solo ambient guitarist John Laslo) serves as a milestone of 3 years of intensive tracking, mixing, experimenting, and overall learning the art of home recording.

In the summer of 2013, John performed a ten minute set at a local pub. After his song ended, he was greeted by Shawn Maguire (No Grave Like The Sea) and encouraged to keep playing. One full set later, John and Shawn carried out conversation and desire to meet more to play and explore post rock music.

With a slate of four songs in John’s pocket, the topic of recording his first full length was presented, and Shawn instantly took to the challenge, wanting to learn the ins and outs of home recording ambient music. The challenge was steep, as the two agreed it would be best to record each layer of the monstrous looping songs John had composed, and tracking began immediately.

With 3 years of playing tug-of-war with Shawn’s computer, incorporating bass and programmed drum/synth tracks (executed by Elliot Perry also of No Grave), the pair understatedly learned plenty. After endless hurdles, headaches, and cab rides, the piece was completed in the summer of 2016, and we’re thrilled to unveil it here.

This record could never have sounded as full as it does if it was handled alone, and it serves as a celebration of collaborating diverse talents, where each can shine in their own light.

Hi! We are AM 800 Sound and we're super thrilled that you're here. As a new "collective" founded by friends who all play music and have similar ideals, we sort of stumbled on the idea of working together to release records, put on shows and build around a like-minded community.

The seeds for our new collective began when we released a small digital benefit EP for a friend’s home that was badly damaged in a storm.  Realizing that we all wanted to self release albums and provide the outlet to other like-minded artists, AM 800 Sound was born.

We have a stacked release schedule for the rest of 2016. Starting with "Estelle", the debut album from No Grave Like The Sea. The debut single, “There Is Good Reason To Be Worried, (a punching swing out of the gate blending a wash of guitar and piano saddled by driving bass and drums) is up for streaming along with the pre-order of the limited LP on their bandcamp page at nogravemusic.com.

Next up is the lush, ambient, and meditative debut album from solo artist Katmai, whose long-awaited full length is slated for a late August release.  

Late September sees the release of Alturas, the 3rd full length from the now, tri-coastal band, Signal Hill. Spread across LA, NYC, and London, Signal Hill have somehow created their most cohesive album to date.

Later in the year we have the 2nd full length album from West Chester's North End, and the debut album from the Azure Vault (members of Signal Hill and Beware of Safety).

Bill Gordon, a good friend of ours and one of the most supportive dudes ever, had a giant tree crash into his house during a large storm last month (February 2016). We wanted to try and support him for once. Thus, we decided to put together this benefit release.
