The Little White House in Fort Langley is definitely a worth while experience!
Jon and I woke up Saturday and decided to wait out our morning hunger for a lovely brunch. We headed out to Fort Langley and went to this little white house after reading a review in the UFV newspaper, the Cascade.
We walked into the left-side of the house, tip-toed down a small hallway (a little unsure of where to go) and entered an adorable quaint tea room in the house. One of the servers greeted us and brought us into a room at the lower level which is for guests that are ordering meals, and not just tea. It was a beautifully decorated place. An old antique feel with Victorian decor. We sat down and got the tea menu and then ordered our food.
Our tea then arrived, my raspberry earl tea in this adorable white elephant tea pot.
And then came our food. Wow! The chef sure knows how to cook! Everything tasted so homemade, fresh and absolutely delicious. Jon ordered a breakfast crepe with egg, bacon and cheese in it sprinkled with hollandaise sauce, and me, eggs benedict with eggs poached to perfection on top of a small crispy, crumbly, fresh biscuit. Both of our meals came with a side of the most perfect lemon-y-rosemary, diced, roasted potatoes and a spinach salad with almonds, cranberries, and goat cheese. Each bite we took was a met with complete delight and left us wanting more. Our meals were perfect size meals (didn't fill us up to the max) which was exactly what we had hoped for to allow room for our afternoon high tea. Little sausage rolls, croissant egg salad poppy seed sandwiches, cupcakes, scones, macarons (lavender & blueberry), and so much more! If you have ever experienced a high noon tea at SerendipiTea or Tracy Cakes, this does not compare. I recommend you give it a try!
After our great meal, we decided to walk around the house and visit the rooms, which have been turned into a beautiful store housing decor and clothes with the same antique-Victorian theme. Everything was so beautiful! And if any of you know me and my style, you will find that the clothes there were EXACTLY my style, as well as the decor, linens, jewelry....everything! I can say without any reservations that this was one of my favourite dining experiences. For the rest of the day, we perused Fort Langley and took a quick visit into the small stores and boutiques.
