Hi there,

I'm a creative but chaotic soul, and I'm always on the lookout for things that are practical for my life and help me tame my chaos. I thought that this might also help someone I don't know on the internet. It could just as well be that I was simply clueless and that everyone already knows this?

But anyway:

Here is my little new notebook (it's A6 and without a hard cover) and my multicolored gel pen.

Advantages of this combination

Always colorful, but only one pen

Fits even in your coat pocket/fanny pack

The notebook is super cheap

You're always the coolest person in the room (because of the pen)

Disadvantages of this combination:

Unfortunately, black and white are missing

(Correction: well, white is kind of a given with notebook pages… but if you do art, you know how important white pen is to some people)

In summary, I can say:

It seems to work really well for me. Because it fits everywhere and the pen works well on paper. Nevertheless, black and white would be a cool addition. But maybe the pen would become too thick at some point? And the colors that the pen company has chosen make sense to me.

Another idea that's still buzzing around in my head is that the little book should have a small pocket for small notes and other stuff.

I'm really clumsy and want to protect my valuables from myself. Well, my laptop isn't protected yet. Luckily, I can crochet and I'm creative. And sometimes I like to role-play.

Colors

I love everything with a chessboard pattern right now. It reminds me of the emos from back in the day and somehow also of Alice in Wonderland, and it's kind of punk too. Plus, black is one of my favorite (non)colors. I decided on the color pattern pretty quickly.

Border

Another question arises with the black border: should I make individual pieces that I then sew on? Or should I try to crochet everything in one piece and sew as little as possible? What's the best way to proceed here?

Zipper(Reißverschluss)

The closure also worries me. A zipper seems very practical to me, but I've never worked with one before. How much space do I need to leave so that the laptop still fits?

Fall protection

Which stitch pattern is best suited to protect a laptop? First of all, I thought of thick cotton yarn. Its texture offers natural protection.

But how do I work with it? Perhaps like a waffle stitch? With relief stitches (double crochet, worked from the front or back)

Or this zigzag crochet pattern that I often used for beanies. It's crocheted, but it looks like you're knitting? It's definitely very relaxing because you just always work into the back loop.

It shouldn't be too complicated, because I already have the color changes from the color pattern.

Brief explanation of what I did (I didn't have a pattern… I watched videos and then did my own thing)

The material: 4 mm crochet hook, black and withe cotton yarn.

the procedure:

30 chain stitches (black)+ 2 turning chain stitches (black) 4x (4x black half double crochet 1x color change 4x white half double crochet 1x color change, and again 4x black half double crochet 1x color change 4x white half double crochet 1x color change, and again 4x black half double crochet 1x color change 4x white half double crochet, 2 chain stitches and turn ) To get the checkerboard pattern, you need to change colors after 4 rows at the end and work in reverse for 4 rows. Then reverse again

It sounds more complicated than it is!

My biggest problem is that half double crochets are not all the same height and width. I tried to compensate for this with my stitch count, but it only worked moderately well.
