Deep in my subconscious

It has been a horrendous day. Growing up on basketball, I may not have liked the Lakers (rival reasons only), but I for god damn sure 10000% loved Kobe. I loved him as a player, as a person, as a someone who inspired everyone, and as a father to his girls. And I am truly broken. Of course I didn’t know him personally, but I grew up watching him play basketball my whole damn life. And his daughter man. 13?! 13! 13. She was a boss lady. Kobe along side Vanessa were teaching all their girls to be boss ass girls. God I can’t imagine what his wife and 3 daughters are feeling. The youngest one, only less than a year old, doesn’t even know.

And I don’t know the other members that were on flight with them that lost their lives too. I believe they were (don’t quote me the Internet has been all over the place) but prayers up to the Altobelli family. John, Keri, and their daughter, Alyssa Altobelli. Just because we didn’t know you doesn’t mean you don’t get recognition, love and prayers. I hope your families heal from the pain of losing you 3.

I just can’t fathom the thought of they were with their daughters, and it’s like their last moments together did they know it was going to be their last breath? Did they embrace each other? Did they say I love you before going down? Did Kobe continuously apologize out loud and blamed it on himself? Were they saying a prayer that they would make it and not have to worry about not seeing their families again?

Gone too soon, gone too young. All of them. 🙏🏾💔 Prayers go up

those fighting for access to education for all

for the future of the planet 

for gender equality 

for safety and protection from gun violence

for governmental representation and engagement for youths 

for the rights of immigrants 

for syria and the rights of refugees 

for literacy and the representation of WOC in books

for trans and queer rights 

for protection of girls against forced marriage and child slavery

i hope that one day we live in a world where children are allowed to just be children, where they dont have to fight tooth and nail for their rights and their futures, but i could not be prouder of this generation
