friends come && go like the ocean,       but the true ones stay — like an octopus to your face

     The Reynolds are hard workers, but they believe in balance and self-care as well. More so on the Ark than on the ground. On the Ark, the family always made sure they had plenty of time together at the end of the day. Problems could arise and be dealt with, but it was always a conscious effort to maintain some free time and avoid being consumed by their individual jobs. Earth is different, Maggie pushes herself and Jules to their limits, but doesn’t question Jules if she has to go off and take a break sometimes. They make time to spend with each other but a lot of that time ends up being the two of them brainstorming designs to help improve life on Earth. It’s much harder for them to separate work and life now, as survival is both life and work — effectively blurring these lines. 

     The short answer is fearful. They don’t understand them.
