So today me and some fellow students were practicing examinations on each other so I had my shirt off (totally fine and normal, and as a woman I’m used to guys seeing me topless in uni). But this guy during the examination feels the need to comment and ask about my SH scars and stretch marks (due to a genetic disease). Like that’s not cool. And for any med students or other healthcare students, don’t do this on your colleagues you’re practicing with. Because I have been clean for a year now and want to relapse. My self harm is not relevant to your learning so don’t comment on it, especially not during a practice exam in front of people.
Med school in a single sentence.
Went to placement (an hour by car) saw 1 patient. They were at a surgical assessment clinic. They were waiting for gallbladder to be removed.
I’m studying cardio
I don’t even do weird abdo stuff till next year
I wasted 6h to see one irrelevant patient and all they were asked was standard stuff like anticoags, and had obs done
This was a great use of time
Happy National Women Physicians Day!
Today a male patient kept saying “sure, honey” as I explained why we needed to get blood work to evaluate his chest pain.

look I really do love medical students but when we’re ultrasounding and you keep saying “what’s that?” without pointing at or describing what you’re asking about I cannot help you!!!
Tbh 99% of the time we are asking what all of it is. Anyone who can read ecgs or ultrasound is magic

Ugh…
Med school have given me 9AM to 12AM then 5PM to 9/10PM and then 8.50AM the next day
I am not a happy med student, i realise these hours are not that bad but
I dont even get payed for this.
And for careers other than healthcare a 12h shift then having to be back at work at just under 11h not including transport time wouldn’t be “a good schedule”
So a lecturer actually told us (via another lecturer admittedly) that he was going to be unable to make it to our lecture.
He only gave us 5 minutes warning but i think thats more than we have had in the entire time I’ve been here.
Usually we all sot around 15-20 minutes then give up and leave
And yet again the constant sexism continues.
Picture this. 4 med students (3 women, 1 man)
Patient asks….
“So how long until you 3 are nurses”

When the most terrifying part about catching covid is you would miss your OSCE.
I’m legit getting palpitations.
I think i would rather get a positive pregnancy test. At least then i could abort.
Is it weird that when i’m not in scrubs I feel like an idiot, overweight, ugly and an imposter yet once I’m wearing scrubs, even at home i suddenly feel confident, like i belong, i know what I’m doing and i look good.
I’ve started wearing scrubs when i study because it gives me motivation and feel like i can do it.
Why thank you med school for giving me placement in thoracic surgery for a period of a few hours despite the fact no surgery was scheduled for that afternoon. I caught the tail end of a lobectomy and then spent a while helping out in recovery. It was a great use of my time fetching people water instead of revising for OSCE’s
Wow…
2 days into the new semester and i am exhausted.
I have no energy to put into work anymore. I’ve only been in healthcare since April 2020 and i have no drive left.
I am so so sorry to everyone that has been here longer.
You are incredibly strong and resilient. The word heroes is overused but you really are. All of you.
Hmm really uni. You are going to complain that not everybody attended placement when you gave our timetable the day before. Literally <12h notice.
We have lives, children, parents, jobs, disabilities, medical appointments, other responsibilities. I can’t just suddenly be available at 7am.

Apparently mnemonics are not popular everywhere? :D
There’s also one for remembering whether the cranial nerve is sensory, motor, or both:

You just need to count which one it is.

High credit card balances secondary to overspending may reveal a lack of self-discipline and restraint. Numerous credit inquiries and outstanding debts may suggest poor planning for the future.
They go on to pretty much suggest that rich people are better doctors and that the reason they are rich is because they are better people than poor people.
