She said that she would be asleep for days and not even wake up to go to the bathroom, because he tampered with her medication. She can't live alone, because her epilepsy is that bad. She said that once her disability was approved, that's when she told him to get out. She refused to let him take her money. I check on her every now and then. PART 31 OF We haven't seen or heard from him since the night he left. He's in New York living with his parent's again. We know that because he applied for a job at a McDonald's in NY and they called the McDonald's down here for a reference. They didn't give him a good reference, because they thought he still worked in the one down here. He hasn't attempted to call Madeline Pearl, he hasn't sent her a letter, he's done nothing to foster a relationship with her. She never asked about him either after he left. She didn't even know about what he did to me. I never talked about it to her, because I didn't want her to hate him. She overheard my mom talking about it and only once she asked me did I talk about it with her. I'm still legally married to this abuser. I do know that he had a son with someone. I also know that the woman he had that child with has a permanent protective order against him for herself and her son. He tried to kill her with his bare hands, but she fought back. I think he's on parole for doing that to her. I know this because he was engaged to another woman after that and she reached out to me after she kicked him out. She saw the pictures of him that were taken after he tried to kill his son's mother and said they were bad. He has scars on his face from it she said. What his ex-fiance told me that he did to her was like hearing my story being told back to me. PART 29 OF Anyway I agreed, but in October of 2011 I got tired of his parent's putting Madeline Pearl in nothing but a seat belt when she should've been in a carseat. I refused to hand her over and I brought her back home with me. His attorney tried calling the police on me, but it was useless since it was a civil matter. The next day he called me saying that he wanted me back. I never wanted anything to do with him, but I saw this as an opportunity to get my daughter back full-time. This same month my disability came through and I found a nice home for my family. The cards were back in my favor. I didn't need him to support my family. I was back in control. I let him move in with us and I had him withdraw his divorce complaint in Albemarle County. After living in Buckingham County for atleast 6 months I could file for divorce here, where I knew the people. Let it be known that I under no circumstances did I take him back, because I forgave him. He repulsed me and I did what I had to do for my daughter. Every single thing in my new home was bought by me and I wanted it that way. I'd be damned if I allowed him to have any power over me again. This man hadn't changed at all. He was still an addict, still a drunk, still abusive,  still a liar. One month after I took him back, he got fired from his job. What I learned in court in that day is that the only thing that's admissible when requesting a protective order is what fits on that small piece of paper that you originally fill out. You can't bring up any prior bad acts, only what you wrote on the original petition. My attorney didn't know that, but his attorney did know. The judge denied my requests, even the guardian ad litem asked the judge to reconsider his decision. The only light of that day was when the judge chastised him in open court about his addiction to methadone and only allowed Peter to visit my daughter while in the presence of child protective services. Peter admitted that he was a drug addict when the judge asked him if he was high right then in court. He told the judge yes, but yet I can't get a protection order for my children? He can show up in court high and not be penalized, but even with the guardian ad litem asking the judge to grant the protective orders, the answer is no. That was my first glimpse into the court system that everyone always talked so badly about. Before then I 100% believed in the court system and that you could always depend on it to do the right thing. After this a few days went by and I was served divorce papers. This fool filed for a contested divorce saying that I "sexually abandoned" him!! Why on earth would I have sex with a man who hurts my children and I? You couldn't pay me enough. On the divorce papers he couldn't even get our wedding date correct. PART 24 OF This is why victims don't leave, because they don't have people who truly will help them. Back to my survival story. My mom found us a place to go. It was with a family member and this person knew nothing about my situation and didn't ask any questions. She told me where her spare key was and told us to go in, because she wasn't home. I remember hearing the horror stories when I was little girl about the abuse she, herself experienced. We stayed there for about a week. Well I stayed and my two youngest children. My oldest two stayed with my mom, because Faye said she couldn't handle them all. I was only planning on staying one night, because we were supposed to go stay at a shelter, but when that time came we couldn't go, because something happened at the shelter the night before and they couldn't accept new families. During this time I went and filed for protective orders for the children. The judge screwed up the paperwork soooooo bad. It was a complete cluster fuck. I filed for each child, but was only given one for Jacob. In Albemarle County if you file for a protective order, you are given an attorney free of charge. I was appointed an attorney from one of the best law firms in the area and for that I found a short-lived sense of relief. The children were also assigned a guardian ad litem. My attorney filed an appeal for the other three children. We returned home once the apartment complex changed all of our locks and he was banned from the property. The guardian ad litem came to the apartment and spoke to each child separately. She believed them and told the judge that when we went back about the protective orders. That day in court there was an extreme amount of deputies in the courtroom and all of them sat near where he was. PART 23 OF A few days after his mother brought him home, he left again and didn't tell me where he was going. I didn't want to know. Another few days went by and Peter showed up with his father to the apartment to get his belongings, because he was leaving me. I remember grabbing Madeline Pearl and my two youngest son's and leaving. Two police officers lived in the apartment complex and I went and parked by one of their police vehicles until they left. Once he was gone I called to have the locks changed and I called my mama for help. She came immediately and after I had the locks changed him and his father came back trying to get in. I called 911, because I wanted a safe escort out of the apartment with my children. The police came and made sure the kids and I got out safely. As we were walking up the stairs I knew one of the male cops that was standing with him, because we had "hung out" a few times. We said our hellos and then I heard him say to Peter, "she calls the cops all the time over men". Even Peter's facial expression was disbelief. If I weren't in a rush to get my children out of there, I'd have confronted him about that. The only time I have never lived in Buckingham County was the 9 months I lived in that apartment. I don't know why he would say that, because it was an outright lie. I did contact the police department, because I wanted to speak with him and ask him why he'd said that, but they told me that I'd have to file a complaint against him. I didn't want to do that, because it would be in his file forever. We left and this is when I found out that most people don't stand behind what they say. Never tell a domestic violence victim that'll you'll be there for them if you've got no intention of backing up those words. PART 22 OF Around May of 2011, Peter chose to go through another back surgery. I've never met someone who was so eager to go through surgeries in my life. The day before his surgery I had the worst migraine. I'm talking throwing up and wearing sunglasses in the house migraine. I went out and got the kids Taco Bell. I got him the same exact order that he got every single time we went there. His order never changed. I got back with the food and he threw a temper tantrum like a child. He was complaining that I got all this food for the kids and only got him three hard tacos with extra cheese. I ignored him and he just kept getting madder and madder. He finally went into the kitchen and threw the microwave and a bunch of other things in the floor breaking them. I told him that he better clean it up before I called the cops. The boys were at the basketball courts while this was going on and Madeline Pearl was napping. After the boys got home and ate, later that evening Jacob was with me in the living room and Peter comes out of nowhere and throws one of Madeline Pearl's bottles at him and tells him that he was going to kill him. Jacob was doing nothing wrong. The next morning he drove himself to the hospital. I wasn't having anything to do with him after he showed his ass the day before. Once he was in surgery all I did was go and pick up my car that he drove there. You can call me cold blooded, but enough was enough. I didn't hear from him for like four or five days and those days were AMAZING!!!! I don't remember how he got home after surgery, but I do remember him going to stay with his parent's to recuperate. What I do remember when he came back from his parent's house, was his mother coming in with a piece of paper where she made a chart of when he was to get his methadone. She started to hand it to me and I laughed and told her to get the fuck out of here with that shit. She didn't even acknowledge Madeline Pearl, her only grandchild while she was there. Matter of fact I don't recall his parent's ever coming to the apartment to visit. PART 21 OF I'm like the hell you are, I will call the cops. He's probably lucky that he passed out after that. Before getting drunk that night, he hadn't drank in over two years or so I thought. I take that back, because the kids found liquor bottles under their bathroom sink. I was miserable living in Charlottesville and during this time Madeline Pearl was diagnosed with a problem with her kidneys and he was totally unaware of it, because of the amount of booze and methadone pills he was taking. Peter would literally fall asleep standing up he was so high. He would go through withdrawals every single month, because he would take more methadone pills each day than prescribed. How on earth do you go through 1,000 methadone pills in a 30 day period? At one point he gave me the pill bottle and told me not to give him any if he ran out of the amount he had taken out for the week. Obviously he came to me for his pills, because he ran out. I refused and he put his fist through the wall. About a month later he came home from work and nobody was doing anything wrong. I don't remember what led to this, but he said that he was going to kill Taylor. I didn't even acknowledge him. I grabbed all four kids in their pajamas and we left. We went to a hotel and hid. I didn't even go back home for diapers, bottles, or clothing. I went to the nearby store and bought what we needed. The receptionist at the hotel even parked my vehicle out of view. It was about five days before we went back to the apartment and he acted like he never did anything wrong.
