Well.
Oops. I said I'd be back, but it seems I wrote the post right before a sudden unfortunate burnout that kicked me out of a bugmight mood by force. Apologies for that, but it seems I will have to announce an official hiatus until I get a hold of some inspiration once more!
I'll try clearing out some asks and then close ask responses, though yall are still free to send other messages through the inbox - I'll have to postpone actual intensive in-universe worldbuilding until further notice, but one thing I can promise is that I won't be deleting this blog or abandoning the au completely, don't worry about that! I do have a tendency to cycle through interests and occasionally return to ones I've had before, so no doubt I'll return to this one as well.

Ah, I've missed you all.
Hi everyone, apologies for suddenly dropping off the face of the earth for a while! I didnt mean to just completely disappear without warning, so I thought I'd stop by to let y'all know what's up.
First of all, nobody panic;
This blog aint dead.
I'm still incredibly fond of this au and have lots of plans for it, and I have no intentions for discarding it completely - and even if I do, which is highly unlikely, I'll cetainly let y'all know! Worst case scenario, I get temporarily tired of bnha and will shelve this au until I inevitably trip right back into fandom hell after a stumble through other series. I tend to cycle through interests pretty frequently, sometimes burning out with some or simply getting swept up with some new obsession of the month and having all my attention directed on that New Interest. I've reignited my transformers hyperfixation twice now, I'm fully confident I'll be able to get pulled right back into bnha in the future - and bugmight - if the stars align!
Anyways, to clarify, I'm still very much into bnha and will certainly keep churning out content for it for as long as I'm able and for as long as it holds my attention - and believe me when I say it definitely does. The new episodes of the anime have been a blast, and I've been on a real Kirishima kick recently - the bug lads are absolutely here to stay though, I just haven't had the mental energy or time to direct much attention to the au recently!
I'll hopefully be able to get this blog up and running again, starting off with answering some older asks. I started drawing a comic for one ask response a while ago but tired out, and didnt feel like delaying answering that one ask to focus on the others instead so I just kinda,,,, stopped being active on this blog completely hsmfgsjfj

Does midoriya ever forget that hes not in bug form and just. Falls off a roof before remembering ‘oh wait i need wings to do this’ and hastily shifting mid-fall to avoid becoming a splat on the pavement? Oh god what if he did it in front of people.
Yup, frequently shifting tends to blend his perception of himself (human form vs bug form) into an amalgamous mess that can sometimes be difficult to distinguish - lucky for him, he's gotten pretty good at shifting rapidly gsjfkshf
And if he happens to forget he's around other people while transforming, it usually happens quickly enough that people either miss it completely or don't pay much attention to it. He tends to blend into crowds well, and such large-scale transformation quirks aren't super uncommon.
How long does it take for mido to adapt to having an extra set of arms??
a While. the proper nerve ending take a bit to develop fully, and then there’s re-training his brain to process and send out individual commands to entirely new limbs - there’s a lot of trial and error involved, including physical training and focusing on moving either only his main arms, only the secondary arms, or each arm individually instead of as one singular limb. lucky for him, all might knows the drill, and even if he isn’t the best teacher in heroics, this he does know. :}
So are they safe from poison ivy? Since it's not a poison, it's actually just a common allergy (a lot of people are immune to it). This is assuming it touched a soft part of their bug form
yeah, they can handle poison ivy just fine! fun fact, they can eat it too :}
lots of different animals actually consume parts of poison ivy, ranging anywhere from its flowers, berries, leaves and stem! humans are the only creature on earth allergic to it, but thanks to the bug quirk’s influence on their biology, bugmight and izuku are both completely immune to it even in human form. neat!
do their molt cycles sync up? like if they both started molting at the same time and they got stuck in a room together with just them and the shed skin. which,,, probably would cause a lot of grooming and also todoroki shoto being a concerned boyfriend bc wtf izuku just disappeared??? why???

Yeah the bugs both molt around the same time, during spring - also molting is a very, very itchy process that starts about a week before the actual molt happens, so groomings are absolutely A Thing
Okay, so are Deku and Dad Might's taste buds different in bug form? And how do Aizawa/the other teachers react to finding out about the bug forms, or are they told at the beginning of the year?
1. Yes, they are! They're mostly similar to human taste buds, but are more finely tuned to detect poisonous compounds in food - additionally, the bugs are both drawn to sugary/sweet foods and the taste of mint gdmfmshd
2. The U.A. is aware of all might's bug form beforehand, mostly to avoid any unnecessary scares if they happen to catch him transforming and to provide him wih space and adequate medical supplies in case of emergencies or if he begins molting at campus while unable to relocate - izuku's bug form, meanwhile, is a surprise to all but recovery girl!

Ah, I see! In that case, there'd be a lot more confusion and anger on afo's part - at least at first, before he realizes the connection to nana's bugform as well (and yes, she used hers during her own battle too) and proceeds to gleefully tear apart all might's entire public image on national television

If, hypothetically, afo had no idea about the bug quirk, he certainly wouldn't have tried to expose it to the rest of the world - if all might did transform during the fight though, it'd have happened near the start of the battle, before the showdown was broadcast to everyone else. Afo himself would definitely have been at least somewhat surprised, and maybe even fascinated - while he wasn't focusing on chipping away at all might's defenses to force him into his true form that is bsmfmdsjd
How many times does midoriya almost shift in front of his classmates before he gets a handle on it? After the stain fight does he have to break the habit of forcing himself to not shift? Or does he just start partway shifting during the middle of class so he can have four hands to do the classwork
He had a couple close calls pretty frequently, but by some miracle managed to get through them without drawing attention. The only person who's even remotely suspicious at the time is todoroki (but that surprises absolutely no one gsmfnhf)
And YEAH he does, he's been used to hiding the bug quirk for so long that relaxing was pretty difficult for him in the beginning. He does eventually grow more comfortable spending time around the rest of the class in bug form, to the endless fascination of pretty much everyone - mina is absolutely delighted upon finding out izuku can spray acid from his eyes hsjdHFKSJF
The partial shifting thing does also happen!! He usually restricts the shifting to his arms (+ his secondary pair) and legs only, occasionally covering himself with protective spines during combat training, though he does sometimes grow mandibles and start chittering if he's really absorbed in something and rambling hdmfmdj
After mido’s first shift, did he have to think about shifting to do it? Or did he some times accidentally shift?
The quirk is really volatile when it comes to emotions, so it temded to manifest at rather unfortunate times occasionally - he had to consciously learn to prevent accidental shifting, but as time passed and he trained with all might, he eventually learned to control the shifts at will. He still doesn't quite have the years of practice that his mentor has, but he's getting there. :')
I know you said you haven't really thought about the bigger world effects of BugMight being revealed, but during the second AfO fight, do people just sort of panic when they realize their Symbol of Peace is secretly that cockroach from Men In Black? Also does Izuku lose control and also revert to his Bug Boi form as he watched in the crowd?

Well. Yea I'd imagine there was some sort of panic at first, but its already a really goddamn tense situation in the first place so everyone mostly focuses on the battle itself. After that though, the media practically explodes with speculation and rumors and whatnot, but once the initial uproar dies down there's a flood of folks with heavier mutant-type quirks thanking all might for being a huge inspiration, and eventually people all around the world warm up to the idea too :}
Meanwhile izuku also comes really close to shifting as well, but manages to keep his composure while watching the fight. Barely. He's full of jittery nerves during the whole thing and has to be held back from bolting right back to the fight to help gsjfjdd

After the second fight with AfO, does Izuku just, like, plaster himself to All Might's side in the hospital and refuse to leave?
Oh ABSOLUTELY
As soon as he's been looked after he immediately visits all might, the hospital staff almost has to forcibly pry him away from his mentor gsjfjdhhd
