alright I finally finished the first one !! what I was trying to do for this month was write a dabihawks one shot everyday and I have obviously failed but i'll try and write all of them by the end of the month !! basing each off of a song so this one is loser by carr
Dabi kicked his feet up on the dashboard, side eyeing Hawks. The two had been driving for a couple of hours now, shaking the police easily because theyâre shit at their jobs. Dabi had been the driver since Hawks was not used to driving and he did not want to experience Hawksâ driving skills.
But, considering Dabi had been driving for two hours with Hawks in the car, he was tired as shit. The hero wasnât in great condition either, very obviously worrying about if the cops had recognized him or not. Dabi knows for a fucking fact that they didnât since his wings were hidden but that still didnât stop the other from worrying about it. And sure he didnât tell Hawks that there was no way they would recognize him, but itâs not his fault that he didnât realize that sooner.Â
âAlright,â he said after an annoyed huff.
âAlright..? Alright what?â Hawks said, pupils shrinking slightly.
Dabi really hated how easily he could notice things Hawks did. He was spending too much time with him.
âLets find somewhere to eat,â he responded, drawing back his legs from the dashboard.Â
When he flicked his eyes over in the heroâs direction, the shrunken pupils were following the movement of his legs. Pervert.
âArenât the police still looking for us?â the hero asked, tilting his head slightly.
âWhateverrrrrrrrr,â Dabi drawled, âIâm hungry. You havenât been the one driving for two hours straight.â
âYeah, but,â Hawks started, getting cut off by Dabiâs hand against his mouth.
âShut. Up. We are getting food.â
Hawks batted his hand away and muttered, âfine,â eyes flicking away from the other.
Dabi stepped out of the stolen car, studying their surroundings. He had parked in an empty lot, making sure nobody was really in this town. Enough people to make it a town, but at night it seemed uninhabited.Â
The two wandered around the empty town, finally finding somewhere that was open. The smell of fried chicken wafted around them as they walked back to the car, which was entirely unpleasant for Dabi. He had never liked fried food, go figure considering his quirk was frying him. Whatever. Food was food.
They ate in silence for a while, Hawksâ stress basically radiating throughout the car. He desperately needed to calm the birdbrain down. Not because he cared about him or anything. Like he was capable of that. It was just a form of pragmatism. Probably.Â
âWhat are you so worried about birdie?â Dabi murmured, trying not to break the quiet atmosphere. Because he didnât want it to be crazy. Thatâs the only reason.
Hawks tensed slightly, feathers sharpening a bit. Which anyone would notice. Dabi isnât weird for noticing that. âYeah, Iâm fine,â he said, resting his head against the seat and turning away from Dabi.
âUh huh,â he leveled, giving him an unimpressed stare. Nobody says theyâre fine when theyâre actually fine. He should know. He says it all the time.Â
âMm hm,â Hawks hummed, giving a small nod.
Dabi reached over and flicked the side of his head, earning himself a sharp glare from the other. âYou know, you really shouldnât be worrying. They didnât recognize you.â
âHow do you know that?â Hawks muttered. Well, at least he didnât deny it.
âYouâre not an idiot, Hawks. You know damn well that even if the police recognized you, they would try and cover it up. Same with the HPSC,â he shrugged and, turning back to the other, met his eyes.
âYeah.. yeah, youâre right. Itâs alright.âÂ
âGood. Now, I donât have to deal with a headless chicken in my car.â
âFirst, Iâm not a goddamn chicken. And second, itâs not even your car?â
âShhh. Yes it is. Finders keepers.â
âI found the car, shouldnât it be mine then?â
âI found you, therefore anything you find is mine. Finders keepers.â
Hawks rolled his eyes, a soft smile betraying the purpose of said eyeroll. Finally, he was feeling better now. And Dabi only cared because this made his life easier. Yup.Â
Hitting his head against the headrest, he grumbled, âI am so not excited to drive,â rubbing his eyes.
âI could drive,â Hawks offered cheerfully, filling Dabi with the deepest dread imaginable.Â
This idiot will make me throw up if he drives. Stick to the skies, birdie.
âYeah, no fucking way. I have no trust in your driving skills.â
âAwh, come on! I promise Iâm great at it. I took a lesson like, a year ago.â
Hawks pouted at him, which he glared at. Neither actions did anything but itâs the thought that counts. Eventually, Dabi started to drive again, looping back around to the leagueâs base. Their talking mixed with the motor and the wind rushing around them from Hawks open window.Â
Speaking of Hawks, he had put his head out said window. Because heâs a fucking weirdo. Seriously, why would you do that to yourself?
âWhat are you doing?â Dabi asked through suppressed laughter.Â
âTrying to make it feel like flying!â he yelled back, giggling as the air pushed his hair back.
No, no, no, no, no. That did not happen. Heâs just a contact. Thatâs it.
âYou really canât stay out of the air for long, huh birdie?â
Dabi smiled despite himself, enjoying the carefree nature of the other man. Sure, most of the time it was just an act but when it wasnât he was so fucking amazing.
Stop thinking about Hawks like that. He is a hero, youâre a villain. Incompatible. Thatâs all there is to think about because thatâs all there is to it. Get him out of your head.
He sighed, focusing back on the road. It doesnât matter what he wants. The only thing that matters is his end goal. And Hawks isnât apart of that. He could wish all he wanted, but itâs unreasonable. You canât change whatâs inevitable.Â
Maybe he could convince Hawks to die with him.Â
Say itâs a test of loyalty or something.
For now he could enjoy the little time they had.
the only thing from that song that inspired me to make this was the part about the car. that was it. and truly I think that's beautiful
