On a beautiful day, deep in the Lake Country of Naboo, a Pontifex of the Brotherhood of Cognizance married a young couple as the sun set over the water. They had no known family, no history, no witnesses save for a pair of droids. They requested secrecy. No official record was to be kept of this moment. Padmé Amidala Naberrie needed no record. She’d never forget how Anakin looked at her in the dying light of day, how gently he took her hands into his own.

Anakin can imagine what the HoloNet will see: Padmé Amidala, charismatic and self-sure, surrounded by her friends and allies. Inspiring them not through fear, but through joy instead.  Even that pales in comparison to what he sees. Anakin watches his wife dance, aching. Knowing that if he were that close to her, he’d be able to see the flush of her cheeks, the rosy gloss of her lips as she smiles. There’d be sweat along her hairline, glittering droplets that sparkle like a thousand tiny diamonds. From across the room he swears he can feel her pulse. He imagines her chest to his, feeling her heart pounding into his skin.

Padmé organizes a last minute fundraising gala. Anakin does what he can to help.
