Mad Max, Center Frame, and the Male Gaze
So this video talks about how Mad Max was shot with Center Frame.Ā
And I went on to show what the Male Gaze looked like in the trailer for Age of Ultron.
I thought it would be an interesting exercise to show what framings can occur if itās not center framed, and where theĀ ātits and assā (self-explanatory industry term) would go, if we presume that the black space actually has the rest of the scene.
For reference, this is what cinematographers/photographers use as a compositional guide:
The points of interest (POI) are where two black lines (Rule of Three) or two blue lines (Golden Ratio) cross, and is where the important info on the screen is ideally located for the eyes to drift there naturally.
By this rule of composition, Dagās breasts would go right about where the black starts:
