okay so im gonna preface this by the fact that i really dont know much about pirates historically so this is probably gonna be very very very historically inaccurate and im not even gonna attempt to make it accurate. may have taken history from the age of 6 to 16 but we never did pirates.

so i imagine that the blakes were a well-respected family until bells dad died and over a year later, octavia was born out of wedlock which you know, people were shitty about it and saw it as a shameful thing. the responsibility of keeping the family alive fell onto bells shoulders and when hes old enough, he signs up for some of naval force to try to get his family a better reputation. but turns out he absolutely hates it and ends up as a part of a mutiny when they realise that theyve been sent to slaughter innocent people. the leader of the mutiny doesnt survive the battle and somehow a very young bellamy ends up in charge and is just like fuck it, were pirates now.

and turns out bellamy is actually very good at running a pirate ship, mostly because he was forced to run a household at the age of like 11 so hes actually really efficient and also the pirate crew is almost like a robin hood crew in terms of who they steal from. theyre also a super diverse (and super queer group because queer pirates) group and take in a lot of like stowaways and stuff.

so like maybe a year after theyve taken a hard 180 in the jolly pirate life, they end up back where bellamy is from (this is probably three years overall after he left) and he learns that his mom died while he was gone (possibly of influenza but could also be a murder or execution, im not sure) and octavia is in love with lincoln but its a secret because a lot of history is racist as fuck. and bellamy immediately is like join my pirate gang and so she and lincoln become pirates too and before this, indra had joined the pirate crew (and bellamys pirate crew isnt one where you have to pretend to be a guy to join, you can openly be whatever the hell gender you are) and she helps to train octavia, and probably later they captain their own small pirate crew because pirate captain indra is something i have lots of Feelings about it and also indra could kill me and id say thanks

along the way, bellamys crew grows to include monty, raven, miller, jasper (who is still trans here because jasper is always trans and trans people have always existed), harper, echo, and murphy. i feel like monty might have always been part of bellamys crew from before the mutiny.

anyway now that weve established bellamy and his crew of queer ass pirates, lets talk about murphy here. this is so much longer than i thought it would be.

i imagine murphy has probably been a criminal since he was a kid. i feel like his mom probably kicked him out and he just has to deal with it so hes basically been living on the streets (maybe like in gavroche way) and hes in like an on and off relationship with emori and theyre both pickpockets, etc. emori technically works at the tavern.

and so bellamys crew roll into town (technically float) and wheres the first person pirates go when they get into harbour? the tavern although probably not because i feel like theyd want to have a decent wash first but anyway, they end up in the tavern. simultaneously, murphy pickpocketed the wrong guy (a naval officer) and theres basically a death bounty on his head so he ends up trying to hide in the tavern and emori is like dude theres a pirate crew in town, you could stow away on their ship and murphys impulsive as fuck and is like why the fuck not so he sneaks into the ship while everyone is getting drunk.

the pirates find him pretty easily because theres a limited amount of space on a ship and miller brings him to bellamy and is like he was hiding on the ship. bellamy tries to ask murphy what he was doing but murphy is prickly and defensive and wont tell bellamy shit. bellamys about to yell at him when jasper and echo come in and are like hey bell, that naval officer doesnt have the necklace and murphy is like wait a second.

turns out they were in town to steal a necklace from a naval officer who has confiscated a necklace that montys mom had given him and thats what murphy had stolen. knowing he has limited options, murphy gives it to them asking for safe passage to wherever their next stop is.

of course their nearest stop is ages away so theres lots of time for murphy and bell to fall in love. so miller and murphy end up working together being lookouts (i love this brotp a lot so heres more of it) and murphy makes himself as useful as possible as a survival tactic but he realises slowly that he really enjoys it here and he ends up having loads of late night conversations with bellamy, especially because he has a lot of insight on how and what to steal because hes been stealing since he was a kid. they start having breakfast together in bells “quarters” which is just his office pretty much because he doesnt like seeing himself as more important than his crew.

and then when they finally next dock, murphy thinks about leaving but he cant so he heads back to the empty ship in the afternoon. he doesnt really know what hes doing and somehow ends up in bellamys quarters because oh shit hes in love.

later on, a kinda drunk bellamy makes his way into his quarters and is shocked to find murphy and blurts out “i thought youd be gone” and murphy just shrugs and says “i guess i have something to stay for” and drunk bellamy is not really the best with his words so he just pins murphy against the wall and kisses him hard

and from then on, theyre queer pirate lovers stealing from the rich and the corrupt and giving to those who need it.

Black Sails au, Murphy as John Silver, Bellamy as James Flint. I suppose Octavia would fill the role of Miranda (of course minus the sex with Bellamy/Flint), Clarke as Eleanor. Given Madi’s race is a big thing she’d have to be Raven and therefore this would be a Murven/Murphamy mix (because if I’m going to make it au I may as well make it a happy au).

2. Raven and Murphy. Like I’m not against them, I just prefer it platonically.

3. I unfollowed someone for anti murven stuff. Their relationship, platonic or otherwise is beautiful.

4. I only have one NOTP in all of fandom and that’s Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom so not applicable here.

5. Bellamy and Clarke. I’ve spent most of the show worried it was going to become canon and trying very hard to have An Emotion about either of them that wasn’t suspicion or defensive. Those guys are so difficult to like, but they’re damn interesting characters.

6. Bellamy and Murphy. I like to describe this pairing as an abusive mess. It’s also really well written both in fandom and canon.

7. Octavia. I mean I don’t hate her now, but my liking of her has taken a steep downhill ever since - since Lincoln’s death specifically.

8. I was accused of being in love with Bellamy once. Had no idea how to respond since that isn’t even slightly true.

9. Bellamy. I should like Bellamy, he ticks so many of my boxes, military background, cute, evil, murderous, gets beaten up and tied up a lot, and yet I just can’t manage it. I find him fascinating, but sincerely worrying.

10. The Azgeda arc, mainly because it never went anywhere and was pushed aside by first ALIE and then Praimfaya.

11. Echo. I actually love her. She’s so alien to both Skaikru and viewers’ attitudes.

12. I really enjoyed Jasper’s arc, even if it ended in tragedy. He was such a nuanced character while being a dumb kid.

13. Murphy and Bellamy are good for each other. No seriously. They balance each other’s worst traits and highlight their best. Murphy keeps Bellamy from getting too overconfident, Bellamy keeps Murphy from getting too lost in self loathing, they both see the other’s heroic actions and dwell on them to the point they both believe the other is the better man.

14. Shipping gets way too much priority. This series has never made relationships the primary plotline, but the fandom gets very heated about it.

15. Lexa’s death wasn’t the worst thing the show has done. That death made sense from a plotline point of view.

16. I would save Jasper. No question. No hesitation. Especially against his will, that would be interesting to explore.

17. Instead of Clarke surviving Praimfaya I would have that sacrifice be genuine.

18. No. Let people ship what they want to ship. It might not be something I’m comfortable with, but I’m not going to abuse anyone for it.

19. The complete lack of casual fans. Lexa’s death really destroyed any hope of this being a peaceful fandom.

20. Miller/Jackson. The medic and the thief.

21. I don’t really believe in crack ships as a concept, done right I think basically any pairing can be taken seriously. That said I’m the *worst* polyshipper and have more of a ship web than list.

22. Bellamy. I loathe him. My feelings for him are very strong, but I try so hard to see positives as well as negatives in him. He’s just a lying, fascist, murderous bastard ... who looks after his family so beautifully.

23. Emori. She deserves so much more love than she gets.

24. I would not, mainly because it’s wrecked my life and I’m not quite *that* sadistic.

25. Something approaching a stable settlement, peace with the neighbours.

26. Murphy. Boy flirts with everyone.

I mean it’s like Clarke drew that to remind her to look after Madi, because she’d almost betrayed the pair of them before. And actually betrayed them a bunch of times ...

It’s Monty alone saying it because I bet Harper was more fun and present. Monty was too busy saving them all to be there much.

Clarke and Bellamy are the most likely to put Jordan in danger if either of them doesn’t think of him as theirs. See Madi and Octavia.

Echo needs to know he’s both of theirs, so no treating him like she did Madi and Octavia.

Okay, who can stop them?

Best survivor in Spacekru. He knows all the mistakes you can make because they’ve been done to him. He won’t keep Jordan out of trouble, but he’ll keep him out of danger and he won’t lie to him or hide things.

Up to Jordan if he believes him, if Murphy says it’s too dangerous it’s lethal.

Charlotte trusted Murphy and he was trying to keep her safe.

No, seriously.

She saved his life by confessing to murder. To Clarke and Bellamy who had just tried to lynch him. He owed her.

Murphy argues for her death knowing Clarke will settle for much less. Bellamy won’t accept that. Clarke, having just seen him betray and attempt to murder Murphy, decides ‘yeah, Bellamy seems like the one to trust right now’ because she is a very smart doctor leader.

Murphy isolates the group willing to kill her and keeps them busy until the camp has lost interest and they just want to give up and go back.

Charlotte trusts him. Tries to turn herself in. Clarke thinks they have to go home now. Bellamy would kill for this random murder child he gave a knife once.

Murphy is there asking Bellamy to stop being an idiot, the murder attempt is old news, he’d have done the same in Bellamy’s place, but this is Murphy’s gang and Bellamy has no idea what he’s doing. Clarke has even less.

Murphy: Yeah, okay, Bellamy, you’ve led the five people who want to kill the twelve year old to the side of a cliff. I’m planning on using them to get her back, maybe a bit roughed up, then let public sentiment and Clarke save her life and I can’t say that, because then my pack of killers would kill all four of us. I gave you time to go back and sort it out, why isn’t it sorted out?

Bellamy: Octavia isn’t around. I get broody.

Finn: Urgh. If I wasn’t such a coward …

Clarke: I am improvising and trust no one, ever!

Charlotte: Guys. I’m cool with Murphy’s plan.

Bellamy: You’re like twelve, you don’t know that.

Charlotte: I’m out, bitches.

Bellamy: I miss Octavia.

Clarke: Fuck! This is 900% my fault. Murphy, get the fuck out.

Finn: That’s really not any more fair than lynching him at the start of this, but, uh, Clarke’s hot? Have a knife.

Murphy: I’ll be back! No, shit, too villainous. Bellamy would say it, I bet, his dialogue in season one is like -

Bellamy: We hanged him, we banished him and now we’re going to kill him. Get the hell out of my way.
