WHY do they do this?

For context this book is an account of every song in Led Zeppelin’s catalogue. Each gets several pages and contains info like which drumkit John Bonham is using in a recording or why Jonesy didn’t want a specific track on an album.

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page did not travel with their women partners and kids in Morocco.

Everyone in 2018 knows this, not least because of RP and JP’s own accounts - for example Robert’s tale about driving nearly into a war zone etc. But also because they went to Rhodes via a music festival in Europe to meet up with said ‘loved ones’ - I mean putting aside Jimmy Page is clearly a ‘loved one’ seeing as Robert said ‘I love him with my whole heart’ in an 1975 interview shortly before they departed for North Africa - and has said so many times since. What the authors mean is LeGiTiMaTe LoVeD ones - het family. WHY? Why do they think they need to lie? If they are happy to record the liklihood of all sorts of meta about lyrics and speculation about recording equipment and band dynamic - why do they think they need to pretend Robert and Jimmy were not off grid together for several weeks and then wrote what is in their (the authors, but actually JP and RP for that matter) estimation a classic of deep passionate emotion about it?
