A topic that really caught my attention this week in class was how the social media landscape can and will change with emerging technologies. The technology that tends to worry people the most is Artificial Intelligence or, AI and I think that is due to the popularity of the technology. The public is well aware of this emerging technology as well as the negative impacts they may have on society. While this is true, the TED Talk given by Zeynep Tufekci brought a very good point up that AI isn't the only thing we should worry about. Algorithms that work better to target ads toward consumers and keep them on online platforms longer can have very detrimental effects on humans as well as our privacy. There are so many other emerging technologies being used in the digital spaces we use. To paraphrase Tufekci, the problem isn't with the technology available to us, but the way the people in power choose to use it.

I found this image that explains the idea of intersectionality and how it connects to our social identities. This was posted by @creative.clinical.psychologist on Instagram. The entire post is linked that gives a more in depth breakdown on the history of Intersectionality as a term and its uses.

I found this article from NPR indicating how the Federal US Government is making immigrants look like criminals through the use of social media. This connects to a lot of our course material this week and shows how social media can have effects on identity as well as political climate.
