It was all so stupid. Everything about tonight was stupid. Your outfit, your hair, and even the make-up they had put on you were decidedly stupid. When you had agreed to a stylist, you had thought it would make you look better - not worse.

And then there are tears because Silco has knocked on the door twice in ten minutes. There's no time to change, and now you're going to be a laughing stock of the entirety of Zaun-

"Darling, I'm not asking again." Silco's voice cuts through the door, a pause before he tacks on. "If you do not join me now, I'm going to leave without you."

"Just go." And you try to keep the sob out of your voice, but more follow.

The next knock is softer, and you raise your head to the door. "Darling," his voice is softer too. "Let me in."

You feel an entire urge to argue with him, to not let him in and see you like this. But there's a desperate need to be comforted by your partner that wins out.

The door opens slowly, just a peak of it. You can see the glow of red in it, as he peers through the slot. Fingers slide against the side of the door, letting you see them so if you attempted to slam it, you'd be slamming his fingers. "Come on." There's a warmth to his tone. "All the way."

You do so and stare up at him. And he takes you in for a moment before his lips twitch upwards like he's fighting to laugh. "I knew it." You hiss, moving back deeper into the room.

Or at least you would have. But his hand grasped your own, tugging you back to him. The fighting smile is still there. "You look lovely-"

"No, I do not."

Silco's smile goes from twitching to still, as it softens. "You always look lovely to me." His free hand catches your cheek, wiping off some of the running make-up.

"You're my husband, you always find me good-looking." The sniffle comes next, as your hands busy themselves against Silco's suit. He does look nice. Very nice, actually. "You look amazing."

He's pulling your face forward. "I'll have your stylist killed for this."

"Make sure it's horrible." You sob, and he's cooing at you before kissing your forehead. Over your cheeks, a soft press to your lips. "Gruesome."

"Oh, they'll suffer," Silco promises, but his tone is teasing as he kisses your face more. "You know, I think our carriage was having trouble. So disappointing really, we'll have to miss this party."

You hated the fact that you would be missing the party for this, but with Silco's soft kisses it was a bit easier to forget that. That it might be nice to have a relaxing night in with your husband.
