if i may get kind of serious and nerdy about led zeppelin for a second. i am not saying we can know beyond a reasonable doubt that these two guys touched each other’s dicks; that would be an insane thing to argue considering we weren’t in their hotel room with them. obviously we can’t know that for sure, just like we can’t know for sure they had sex with Anyone who they don’t have biological children with.* i’m not interested in proving forensically that they fucked (they did, obviously, but frankly at this point i don’t think even a sex tape could convince some of y’all), i’m interested in why the HELL, in the face of an overwhelming body of Facts that are MOST EASILY explained by “these men were lovers,” it is so taboo to assume this was probably the case. to the point where some people get angry when you even raise the possibility! to the point where people refuse to acknowledge documented history. remember that despite both these guys giving verbal accounts of having been in morocco together, just the two of them, for 1-2 months (their timelines vary), there are still led zeppelin biographers who insist their wives were there with them. why do that? why fabricate a detail that is a) blatantly incorrect and b) doesn’t add anything to your narrative? (unless, of course, your narrative relies on the idea that these men were heterosexuals–and without that detail, it starts to look a lot like they were lovers.)
tl;dr: the interesting thing isn’t getting nitpicky about whether or not they did it in the ass–it’s that, for the vast majority of rock fans, it’s inconceivable that they could have.
*for that matter–we don’t know for sure they fucked all the groupies they are fabled to have fucked, either–we also weren’t there; all we have are second-hand stories. why is everyone so willing to believe those? (“but @ri0thouse we don’t have stories like that about jimmy and robert” what the hell is achilles last stand then?)
