“Drunk words, sober thoughts sounds a lot like your night ahead of you,” Alena hummed. “I would work on hiding these thoughts a little bit more before an auror hears you and starts asking questions you really don’t mean to answer,” Alena offered. If anything, she could tell that he was somewhat apologetic. Not that she would think his apology be valid at all, remembering their Hogwarts days.

“Am I not making it obvious enough that I don’t like people?” Knox deadpanned at the newcomer who attempted to make small talk with her.          he  offered  up  a  smile  ,  shaky  at  best  ,  and  tried  to  mitigate  what  he  was  sure  was  a  very  ANGRY  half-blood  if  he  was  remembering  hogwarts  correctly  .  ❝   thatʻs  essentially  it  ,  ❞  he  said  ,  hoping  to  lighten  the  mood  .  ❝  mr.  high  and  mighty  himself  ,  king  midas  .  itʻs  a  pleasure  ,  miss … pirate  ?  ❞

Alena’s eyes narrowed, it wasn’t an apology. “Wasn’t supposed to come out?” she huffed, shaking her head at the other. “Well at least we know what a legilimens would find in your pea brain.” It was harsh, yes, but she had always assumed blood supremacy has quickly made its way out of style. 

“——— that sounds a lot like those ‘the real monster comes from within’ kinda quotes and i’m not sure if i like that…” the apprehensive look on melania isn’t really characteristic of her. really, her whole demeanor is ODD and deep down she can feel it just isn’t right of her to be so… passive. “uh, i don’t really think i put THAT much thought into it, ‘an angel’ isn’t the most creative idea i just wanted something quick and easy.”

cassia raises her own glass a little too enthusiastically before she tosses it back, grinning at alena. “ to pretending ! and being old enough to drink and to do what we like.” not even she could argue with that. “ cheers and i definitely can drink to that.”

“i mean, i GUESS.” mafalda could only offer a lopsided smile as some consolation. she was quite literally dressed as a witch from a cartoon TV show - it wasn’t the farthest reach from who she was, but she understood what alena was getting at. “you’re feeling AWFULLY contemplative tonight, aren’t you? i’m not complaining - i’m totally down for assessing people’s costumes and spitballing whether or not they have deeper meaning.”

Pulling up her magnifying glass, she winked at her from behind it. “And here I thought I was being subtle…” She set it down and grinned at her. “I’m Kodi. And you?” Despite whatever was happening with her with how she was subtly losing a bit of her visibility, it was shaping up to be a good night. And thus far uneventful.

     She seemed to consider it, taking in the current appearances of both herself and Alena. A pirate and a fairy  –  seemed rather appropriate, didn’t it? “Well that’s my secret, Alena,” Avalon grinned impishly, tucking her hair behind a pointed ear, “I really am Tinkerbell,” The wings on her back fluttered in conjunction with her words, “Can’t you tell?”  

           𝖌𝖔𝖑𝖉-𝖙𝖎𝖕𝖕𝖊𝖉  𝖋𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗𝖘  𝖜𝖗𝖆𝖕  𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖒𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖛𝖊𝖘  around  a  now-gold  glass  that  was  not  so  when  he  had  first  received  it  .  he  had  plucked  it  from  a  waiterʻs  tray  ,  crystal  turning  to  mineral  in  his  grip  ,  and  left  them   to  marvel  at  his  dedication  to  his  costume  and  wonder  at  how  he  managed  it  .  

            (  it  was  his  wand  tucked  up  into  his  sleeve  and  some  quietly  whispered  transfiguration .  but  he  wasnʻt  going  to  admit  that  yet  )  .  

            ❝  merlin  ,  that  outfit  is  tacky  ,  ❞  he  laments  after  a  sip  of  his  drink  ,  eyes  cutting  towards  a  shoddily  done  toga  .  ❝  if  theyʻre  not  even  going  to  make  an  effort  ,  they  should  just  go  home  .  ❞  blaise  caught  himself  ,  a  crease  appearing  between  his  brow  .   for  the  first  time  in  perhaps  EVER  ,  it  felt  like  the  words  had  slipped  past  his  lips  as  soon  as  the  thought  had  formed  in  his  brain  .  ❝  canʻt  blame  them  though  .  that  whole  ensemble  reeks  of  half-blood  .❞ 

            hazel  eyes  widen  ,  blinking  slowly  as  his  more  .  .  .  prejudiced  thoughts  became  voiced  against  his  will  .  a  nervous  laugh  spills  out  from  his  chest  .  ❝ …  what  the  f u c k  ?  ❞

Alena was just about to agree with the other when the last statement slipped past their lips. They stared at the other for a moment, setting her own drink down. “The outfit is almost as tacky as your comment,” she said, narrowing her eyes at the other. As a half-blood herself, she couldn’t decide between slapping him or yelling at him... Maybe both? 

As soon as the thought crosses her mind a picture crosses in front of her face, the other immediately hexing her, others joining in. 

“Sounds kind of lazy to me,” said Kodi. She paused, then glanced down at her Sherlock Holmes costume. “Then again, I’m an Auror and I’ve come as a detective, so I should probably stop talking. Love your costume, though. Keira Knightley was the best part of those movies.”
