                    ・   。   ◟     plant    kids    ,    she    knows    the    minute    somebody    like    her    utters    words    like    that    &    she’ll    wake    up    poison    ivy    stuffed    down    her    shirt    .    it    still    gives    her    amusement    ,    lips    garnering    a    rare    glimpse    of    a    genuine    smile    while    she    adjusts    her    position    ,    grey    eyes    move    from    yellow    grass    to    an    older    boy    .    even    in    the    quiet    ,    in    the    calm    –    she    can    feel    the   𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚    from    a    𝐁𝐎𝐘    𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆    .    unlike    the    titan    she    had    followed    ,    his    host    was    just    a    demigod    but    alec    –    the    son    of    a    ruler    ,    royal    ichor    in    his    veins    unlike    hers    .    he    had    fought    valiantly    ,    she    had    heard    of    his    triumphs    while    wrapping    up    her    wounds    ,    taping    up    her    muscles    .    ❝                        it’s    a    lot    KINDER    here    at    night    .    ❞    she    avoids    commenting    on    the    plant    kids    ,    picking    up    her    spear    &    tapping    the    earth    gently    with    the    butt    .    ❝                      don’t    you    ever    just    ,    revel    in    the    silence    sometimes    ?    ❞

         ⚡          “                      sure    i    do.     ”          he    nodded    back,    a    hand    coming    up    to    brush    through    the    mess    that    was    his    hair.    the    rubbers    of    his    shoes    sliding    against    the    arid,    straw-like    grass    as    eyes    broke    away    from    hers.    instead    they    settled    on    the    darkening    sky.      “                   plus,    out    here    you    can    really    see    the    stars.     ”         his    words    came    out    factually.    voice    silvery    in    response.    if    need    be,    he’d    move    a    few    clouds    out    of    the    way    with    a    wave    of    his    hand.    though    such    an    action    would    drain    the    demigod.    a    price    alec    was    willing    to    pay    for    tranquility.        “     now    dana,    something    tells    me    you’re    hiding    out.    am   i  close?     ” 

      ⚖           her  shrug  is  cocky  and  almost  insultingly  sarcastic  to  his  remark .   how  well  did  she  know  him  exactly ?   the  idea  of  knowing  him  was  absolutely  beyond  her  at  this  point .   had  she  ever  really  known  him  while  they  were  dating  or  is  it  very  clear  just  who  he  is  now  that  they’re  not ?   deep  down ,   she’d  wish  to  say  the  former .   that  the  hatred  that  filled  the  open  stables  was  just  a  harsh  attempt  at  taking  down  her  ego  one  comment  at  a  time .                    ❛     i'm  pretty  sure  i  don’t  know  you  at  all ,   not  sure  i  ever  did .     ❜                    

                    she  should  have  expected  a  remark  like  that .   despite  the  reality  and  the  frequency  of  a  statement  like  that ,   nothing  would  ever  lesson  the  blow  of  an  admittance  that  there  was  absolutely  nothing  between  the  two  of  them  anymore .   it  wasn’t  exactly  the  words  he’d  said  but  the  truth  behind  those  words .   he  shouldn’t  care  and  neither  should  she .   that’s  how  it  was  supposed  to  work .   you  break  up ,   feelings  stop .   why  on  earth  can  it  not  be  like  that ?                    ❛     now  you’re  just  trying  to  piss  me  off .     ❜                    she  spat  out ,  readjusting  her  stance  and  bringing  one  arm  over  the  other ,   folding  them  over  her  chest .   now  she  was  comfortable  and  not  going  anywhere .

         ⚡           he    stood    there    listening    to    each    word    that    fell    off    sugary    deceitful    lips.    the    more    she    struck    back,    the    more    his    veneer    fell    to    bits.    if    any    child    could    rival    his    stubbornness,    it    was    her.                      “                       just    give    it    up.     ”        he    muttered,    a    breath    exhaling    off    tight    lips    as    palms    pushed    off    the    wooden    stable.    his    footsteps    nearing    close.    if    the    son    of    zeus    had    to    be    the    first    to    crack,    then    so    be    it.        “                       i'm    not    playing    this    game    with    you.    if    you    want    to    stay,    then    stay.     ”        he    was    in    front    of    her    now.    hues    softening    under    her    flecks    of    gold.    scorning    his    inability   to    stay    obstinate.        “       but    why?    why    stay?    is    it    just    to    piss    me    off    or    something    else?     ”

sometimes , it takes fitz a moment to remember alec … is alec . he has a brother . just … walking around camp . they come across each other every now and then at the cabin , but for the most part , they’re out of each other’s hair . he wants to change that though . you’re supposed to be friends with your sibling , aren’t you ? he looks up as alec points at his lip . and instead of being delicate , he wipes his lip on his sleeve a few times . before looking up with a raised eyebrow .

“ did i get it ? “

         ⚡          there’s    a    sense    of    uneasiness    that    falls    over    him.    one    could    call    it    jealousy,    dislike,    or    mere    unfamiliarity.    but    for    alec,    it    was    all    the    above.    you    could    say    he    blanketed    their    father’s    wrongdoings    over    fitz.    an    unfair    trade,    but    the    younger    boy    was    in    fact    claimed    before    percy’s    deal.    which    always    begged    the    question:    what    did    father    see    in    him    that    he    didn’t    see    in    alec?        “      yep,    you    did.     ”           he    let    the    words    fall    short,    gaze    eyeing    the    other’s    dirtied    sleeve    with    disgust.          “     maybe    next    time    you    could    be    alittle    more    self    aware    &    less    in    hurry?    i    won’t    always    be    here.     ”

          mornings   ,   his   least   favorite   time   of   day   .   though   he   was   an   early   riser   ,   setting   out   into   the   morning   before   the   sun   peaked   over   the   trees   in   the   distance   ,   the   amount   of   times   his   yawns   forced   their   way   out   of   his   lungs   and   wet   his   eyes   did   not   make   it   worth   it   .   especially   because   of   his   tendency   to   stay   up   late  ——   the   days   drew   on   and   on   to   no   end   ,   it   seemed   .   draco   practically   snoozed   over   his   toast   and   jam   that   morning   ,   which   is   why   the   red   ,   sticking   jelly   collected   at   the   corner   of   his   mouth   and   he   ended   up   in   that   conversation   with   alec   .   immediately   his   hand   swipes   at   the   spot   the   other   motioned   to   ,   a   pink   blush   splaying   over   his   cheeks   in   mild   embarrassment   .   “   thanks   ,   ”   he   says   with  eyes   flickering   between   his   hand   and   the   other   ,   before   he   brushes   it   against   his   pants   .   “   might’ve   fallen   asleep   while   i   ate   this   morning   .   or   maybe   i   was   saving   it   for   later  ?   ”   draco   attempts   the   joke   ,   but   naturally   it   fails   ,   as   his   features   fail   to   transform   past   his   regular   stony   gaze   .

          ⚡         “     don’t    mention    it.    just    hope    you    return    the    favor    if    i    ever    have    something    on    my    face,      ”       he    shrugged    back,    the    edges    of    his    lips    curving    up.    there    was    no    hiding    the    awkward    aura    that    settled    over    the    two.    draco    had    always    been    unusual.    death    surrounded    the    young    prince,    so    it    made    sense.    a    thing    alec    was    thankful    he    didn’t    possess.  sensing    clouds    forming    overhead,    his    chin    tilted    up.    copper    hues    focusing    on    the    swirls    of    grey.    a    peculiar    sight    as    it    was    just    sunny    moments   ago.    surely    someone   would   suspect    he    was    the   culprit.    if    only,    but    breakfast    had    distracted    him.          “                       looks    like    we’re    getting    rain.    hope    you    don’t    mind    getting    your    hair    wet.     ” 

       ⚖           his  remark  caused  her  otherwise  neutrally  straight  face  to  quickly  get  stern ,   aggravation  on  herself  settling  in ,   with  a  slight  tint  of  frustration  quickly  added  to  her  words .                    ❛     i  don’t  know ,   alec ,   seems  like  the  son  of  a  big  three  god  would  just  take  ownership  of  some  things  around  this  camp  .     ❜                    then  again ,   taking  ownership  of  things  he’s  done  hasn’t  exactly  been  alec’s  strong  suit ,   so  maybe  she  was  wrong .

                     her  heartbeat  was  out  of  control ,   and  her  intention  to  calm  herself  before  the  event  tonight  was  sorely  ruined  by  his  presence .   it  was  swift   how  she  took  her  hand  from  a  stable  door  and  her  legs  strutted  forward ,   heading  for  the  large  open  door  down  a  wide  hall .   making  sure  not  to  lift  her  eyes  when  they  passed ,   she  waited  until  she  was  almost  at  the  exit  to  turn  around ,   hate  brewing  at  her  edges  too  much  to  bare .                    ❛     you  know ,   your  inability  to  exist  in  the  same  room  as  me  now  really  shows  which  of  us  is  the  weakest .     ❜                    it  was  overly  harsh ,   she  was  well  aware ,   but  dealing  with  her  emotions  properly  was  her  strongest  fault .

          ⚡          𝚑𝚒𝚜    𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗    𝚘𝚏    𝚜𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝    𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚝    𝚞𝚙,        teeth    grinding    against    each    molar.    she    always   knew    just    which    buttons    to    press    that’d    garner    a    reaction.    and    it    looked    like    she    got    her    wish.          “     you’re    so    full    of    shit,    lu.    you    know    i'd    never    do    that.     ”           he    shot    back,    body    finally    swinging    around    to    face    her.                         his    lips    dipped    further    into    a    scowl,    trying    everything    to    swallow    back    the    anger,    but    she    just    had    to    keep    pushing.        “     does    it?     ”        he   quirked,    head    tilting    to    the    side    in    scrutiny.    his    own    feet    taking    tentative    steps    before    continuing,        “     well,    what    am    i    ever    to    do    now    that    you    think    i’m    weak?    oh    i    know   -   nothing    because    i    don’t    care.     ”         his    words    were    flippant.    a    reddened    lie,    but    his    pride    refused    to    budge.    instead    he    rivaled    her.    head    nudging    toward    the    exit.        “     you    can    leave    now.    you    were    always    good    at    that,    remember?    ”  

                    ・   。   ◟      there’s    more    𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭    among    the    stalks    than    in    the    camp    .    satyrs    are    too    intimidated    by    a    titan    blessed    demigod    ,    nymphs    don’t    care    enough    to    hold    grudges    for    the    nature    destroyed    by    an    army    she    almost    held    in    her    palm    .    but    camp    ;    where    the    stares    never    stop    &    the    whispers    never    quiet    –    dana    would    rather    them    charge    her    than    hide    behind    gossip    ,    the    orange    clad    warriors    never    had    much    𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐄    .    with    her    eyes    trained    on    a    dead    clearing    –    yellow    grass    &    wilted    branches    ,    she    leans    against    a    tall    spear    dug    into    the    dirt    .    ❝                        it’s    a    bit    late    to    be    out    here    ,    don’t    you    think    ?    ❞    she    asks    the    demigod    stepped    into    the    clearing    ,    hues    remain    cast    downward    .    ❝                      should    get    a    plant    kid    out    here    ,    heal    this    clearing    .    ❞

          ⚡          𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚎𝚜    𝚌𝚛𝚞𝚗𝚌𝚑    𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚕𝚢    𝚊𝚐𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝    𝚍𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚍    𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚜.          the    action    giving    away    his    location    simultaneously.    if    he    cared,    it    might    have    irked    him,    but    he    didn’t.          “      could    say    the    same    thing    to    you.     ”          he    hummed    back,    bottom    lowering    to    the    ground    as    a    curious    brow    arched    up.    chocolate    iris’s    danced    over    the    other’s    trusty    spear.    surely    a    random    pick    of    the    day    by    the    𝚍𝚊𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚎𝚛    of    𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐀.          “     i’ll    leave    you    to    ask    that.    be    sure    to    call    them    plant    kids    too.    i’m    sure    they’d    love    that.     ”          a    throaty    laugh    sounded,    forearms    wrapping    around    his    legs    as    he    sat    criss-cross    applesauce.          “     but    seriously,    why   you   out    here?    surely    it    isn’t    for    the    scenery?    ”

location:  outside   the   dining   pavilion,   morning.

          ⚡          with    a    full    stomach    and    shoes    kicking    some    random    rock,    alec    was    ready    to    head    towards    the    cabins.    only    stopping    when    he    noticed    something    was    off.          “     you    uh,    have    something    right-     ”           he    paused,    finger    darting    up    to    point    to    his    own    lip.    hoping    his    mimicking    would    help    the    other    catch    on,    but    it    didn’t.          “     on    your    face.    i    think    you    missed    a    spot.     ” 

        ⚖           she  shouldn’t  have  expected  anything  less  from  him .   the  sarcastic  and  slightly  harsh  tone  was  one  she’d  heard  plenty  of  times  before .   so  many  that  it  almost  seemed  normal  to  her ,   although  she  couldn’t  say  she  was  innocent  in  those  regards  either .

                      the  truth  was    –––    she  knew  exactly  why  he  was  here .   knowing  him  as  well  as  she  did ,   she  should  have  suspected  to  have  a  guest  in  this  portion  of  her  trail .   he  frequented  the  stables ,   as  did  she  when  they  were  together .   it  hadn’t  taken  her  long  to  associate  this  place  with  him  from  the  beginning .   certain  places  and  certain  feelings  always  seemed  to  get  the  best  of  her  in  the  worst  of  times  .                    ❛     you  don’t  own  the  stables .     ❜                    it  wasn’t  as  sarcastic  or  stern  as  her  question ,   more  of  an  observation .   she  was  free  to  roam  around  the  stables  all  she  wanted ,   and  there  was  truly  nothing  he  could  do  about  it .

                     her  eyes  darted  away  from  his ,   something  she  found  was  more  common  now  than  it  ever  was  before .   her  hand  cascading  down  a  security  pole  before  glancing  over  at  the  pegasi  in  question .   it  wasn’t  necessarily  his  presence  alone  that  made  it  hard  to  be  there ,   but  the  memories  associated  with  him ,   especially  in  this  building .                      ❛     i’m  almost  leaving  anyways .     ❜                    she  wasn’t  actually  planning  on  leaving  previously  but  the  thick  air  that  surrounded  an  otherwise  extremely  open  room  was  uninviting .   almost  as  if  it  was  harder  to  breath  because  her  body  was  focusing  on  keeping  up  the  composure  and  straight  faced  glance  she’d  worked  on  the  last  three  months .

          ⚡           𝚢𝚘𝚞    𝚍𝚘𝚗’𝚝    𝚘𝚠𝚗    𝚝𝚑𝚎    𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎𝚜.        his    ears    prickle    at    the    sound    of    her    voice.    each    syllable    falling    off    rose    bud    lips,    grating    stubborn    eardrums.          “      don’t    you    think    i    𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠    that?     ”          his    words    flash    with   defensiveness.    a    snipe    in    reply;    resenting    the    emotions    she    allowed    to    burn    through    him.                         refusing    to    move    his    gaze    anywhere    but    on    pelias,    digits    move    up    to    gently    run    careful    fingers    through    the    horse’s    mane.    said    hand    then    falling    back    to    his    side.    after    a    𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎𝚍    breath,    hues    inched    over    to    sneak    a    glance.    he    couldn’t    deny    her    beauty.    long    brown    locks    hanging    off    delicate    shoulders,    washed    up    memories    of    his    own    fingertips    leaving    soft    trails    over    her    exposed    skin.    it    was    enough    to    force    his    eyes    to    tear    away.    this    time    a    deeper    snarl    pushing    out.          “     please,    feel    free    to    leave    now.     ”           he    hoarsely    countered,    instinctively    inclining    his    upper    frame    to    induce    intimidation.    though    the    action    pinched    his    chest.    a    ping    that    he    ignored.
