Hello, my name is Xochitl and Iâm 18 years old. Recently, my parents have found out Iâm bisexual and it is no longer safe to stay here (plus I might be thrown out). I plan to get out of here in the next week.
Due to this outing, the abuse Iâve always suffered at their hands since I was nine can increase. Iâm terrified and I know the longer I stay itâll get more dangerous. My parents are Mexican and both religious, they believe Iâve committed sin and that Iâm disgusting.
As of right now, I have three weeks until I move to my dorm in a different state. I chose OOS to pursue my higher education because it was a way out of this family. Since Iâm an OOS student, my debt is also massive despite the scholarships and federal funding Iâve qualified for so far. Not only that but I will be off the family insurance, and Iâm mentally ill and have sight problems, and will need to be on the school one.
That being said, I need money for shelter, food, gas, and school necessities. Shelter as in enough to hold me until I leave for college. Iâm an intern right now so I donât get paid, but I will start work-study at school but those funds I want to go to my loans and books.
