Salt room Salina is an interaction between light and weight; Salina is a room with waves of salt between the sleek lines of the Bossche School monastery architecture.This salt, residue of evaporated seawater, lay in the deepest darkness beneath the earth for 200 million years and has been brought to light again here. The waves seem to be slowing down in movement, they evoke thoughts of coming and going, of transformation, displacement, of shifting time. How long does a wave last?

ON ALL THE BREADCRUMBS ON THE ROAD TOWARDS THE LARGE DRAWINGS
ROCK CAVES AND TREE HOLLOWS INHABITED BY HERMITS
The series of large drawings show big trees rooted in rocks. Rock caves and tree hollows are inhabited by hermits surrounded by their few and favourite belongings. They are inspired by a fascination for 15th, 16th century engravings of woodlands, the big oak trees in the Allier, hermits, rocks and trees, bûtoh dansers, a priest in Indonesia, my brother and the drawings of treehuts by my art school kids.

De Bloembank is een sculpturale bank voor het schoolplein van de onderbouw die een zitplaats biedt en een plek voor ontmoeten, spel en tot rust komen. De besloten vorm van de bank roept het idee op opgenomen te worden in een omarming, en geeft zo een gevoel van rust en geborgenheid.

DEPOT work in progress
A video and some shots of the display cases: all thirteen display cases have now been installed in the heart of The Depot. Still a bit dusty, accessible glass floors are covered for the time being.
The next months Marieke van Diemen will design the interior for each display case, following the content of the exhibited. The interior will be adaptable for every new presentation in the coming years. Flexible, magnetic LED-light sources will not only emphasise the exhibits but also the enormous volumes of the display cases.©ïžmarieke van diemen

One of the most beautiful play area designs ever: the sculptural play area for children at Dowse Art Museum The play modules are a series of undulating concrete elements, that have been put together to form an elongated play area.
A multitude of ways to interact with it- as well as the modules enabling a number of ways for configuring shapes.The meandering shape evokes a river, or Gaudiâs exuberant benches in Barcelona.

In the embroidered sceneries of the swan series the same theme has been developed in all its possible patterns.
The theatrical installations, hence the word sceneries, refer to a sleepy world. Room sized embroidery installations like tents and pillows make up an oasis in white cotton. Long pieces of fabric are suspended in space, winding in and out rooms or cascading from windows .

The Maze by Marieke van Diemen, In the Atrium of Depot Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam
Absolutely fabulous and vertiginous!
The maze consists of 13 gigantic display cases in the heart of Depot. A wondrous and spectaculair labyrinth in the style of Piranesi.
The Depot is designed by MVRDV. A team of Marieke van Diemen and MVRDV is responsible for the design of 3D Maze.
MVRDV partnered with John Körmeling and Marieke van Diemen to develop the entrance and atrium while Concrete provided the interior design of the rooftop restaurant. Pipilotti Rist was contracted to design an installation for the building. MTD Landscape Architects assisted in designing the forest.
