Nymphia’s hand is sturdy around her head, stroking her hair gently. She leans closer to her neck, lips barely grazing her neck, and Jane leans back and closes her eyes, surrendering for the feeding.

But it doesn’t come. She waits a moment, still feeling no fangs in her neck, no rush of blood. Another moment, then she cracks open her eyes, seeing Nymphia still sitting close to her but looking at something on the other side of her, eyes flicking. Jane looks over to see Nymphia holding her phone with the other hand, thumb scrolling.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“Finding a video,” Nymphia answers calmly.

“What?”

“Finding a video,” she repeats, holding up her phone. YouTube.

“Nymphia, what the fuck?”

“I need entertainment! Everyone watches videos when they eat!”

“But this is-“ Jane says, searching for words to explain to Nymphia that this is a very weird thing for her to be doing. “Can you hurry up?”

“I haven’t found a video.”

She rests the scrolling arm on Jane, phone on her chest, and tucks her head into the crook of her neck. It’s kind of adorable. Jane still needs for her to hurry up, though.

“Is my blood this unappealing?” she asks dryly.

“No, it’s just better with a video,” Nymphia insists. “Okay, I found one.”

Jane rolls her eyes, then gasps as Nymphia sinks her teeth into her neck.

It takes a few minutes, Nymphia’s chosen video playing in the background, which would be annoying had Jane not been falling into that state of blissful delirium that she always does when Nymphia feeds on her.

Nymphia pulls back, having had her fill, and blots up the blood. Jane looks up at her, eyes heavy, and Nymphia smiles.

“Was the video good?” she asks.

“Yep.”

“Can you find one before we do this next time?”

“Janey, you’re being very demanding today,” she replies.

“And you can’t live without me,” she says sweetly.

She cups Nymphia’s face, and Nymphia smiles and says, “I guess I’ll choose one ahead of time.”
