Artists! Sign up here. If you sign up and realize you can't or don't want to participate, that's fine. Simply do not submit an art draft for claiming and you will be dropped from the event! Sign-ups run through August 29th. Art drafts must be submitted before September 4th.

You will provide a minimum of one piece of art for the event.

Art must include at least one canon character or element from Squid Game. It does not need to include a character, art of the settings, costumes, symbolism, etc, is acceptable as well! Symbolic/abstract art should be recognizably related to the show, though.

Art can include pretty much any dark or triggering themes you like, with the exception of explicit sex or violence involving minors.

You may submit multiple related pieces of art, these will be treated as one submission for claiming purposes (meaning each individual piece will not be put up for claims separately)

Authors! There is no separate signup for authors. You will provide all your details during the claims process.

You will create a written work(s) to accompany the art you claim

Minimum word count is 2500.

Any flavor of creative writing is acceptable, including narrative/fic, scene snippets, poetry, dialogue, food blog entry... go nuts!

Anyone: you can sign up for email updates about this and future Squidbang events. (I promise I'm not sharing or selling anyone's e-mail addresses). You will have the option to unsubscribe at any time.

Everyone: Everyone is welcome here as long as you are respectful to the event itself and follow the rules. You are free to like and dislike certain ships, ship dynamics, etc. TBH you can hate me personally if you want, you can still participate as long as you follow the rules.

There is also a "blacklist" option where participants can name artists or authors they do not want to be paired with, if that is something that concerns you. If you provide this info, I will keep it confidential (obviously you'll just have to trust me on that since we're not signing NDAs or anything). I cannot PROMISE 100% that if you have a long list of hard No Thank Yous that you will be paired with someone, just because there aren't infinite participants, but I'll do my best!

Absolutely no bullying or harassment associated with the works submitted to the bang or anything adjacent to the bang. Fandom beef keeps a wide berth at all times.

because you’ve got the inside view. 

see, you see all your nasty thoughts as they pass by. you feel all those mean impulses; you catch every terrible thing you think about a friend, you have to watch yourself procrastinate on important stuff and be lazy when you feel like you should be working. you get front-row seats to all the awfulness that comes with being a person. and you only get that view of yourself, not of anyone else. so naturally, since you can’t see all the internal flaws in everyone else, it seems like they don’t have them–but you do. 

the secret is that everyone has those flaws. 

if being a good person is something you strive for–if you keep those nasty thoughts inside your head instead of directing them at other people, if you support your friends instead of pushing them down, if you try your best at what you do–then i promise you, you’re a good person. and even if you fail at that stuff sometimes, all it takes to be a good person is to keep trying. 

there’s nothing any more bad about you than there is about loads of other people. 

ask your friends if you’re a good person–when it comes to things like this, they probably see you more clearly than you do yourself. trust them. if they say ‘yes, of course’ then you’ll know you don’t have to worry. if they say no, you can ask them why, and then strive to change those things about yourself.

just remember that if it seems like everyone else is a better person than you, it’s only because you can’t see what’s happening inside them. trust me–everyone struggles to do the right thing sometimes. even steve.

Everyone knew about Gi-hun’s new boyfriend, who doted on him day and night. Gi-hun was very proud of that—of how affectionate In-ho was, how rich he was and how he gave Gi-hun money, how he took care of Gi-hun’s family—everything! But someone at the table made a rather unkind comment

A joke started about Gi-hun being useless—it really was good to have someone to take care of him, or he’d already be dead. Gi-hun was shocked, but he laughed awkwardly so as not to kill the mood. The conversation continued, with many people talking about how lucky he was that In-ho put up with him, since he’s so irresponsible and spends a lot of money, and doesn’t even work to earn his own—he just leeches off his husband. Jung-bae changed the subject, realizing that Gi-hun wasn’t enjoying himself, but it stuck with him.

A week later, Gi-hun tells In-ho that he’s landed a part-time job and will start in two days. In-ho freezes and asks why all of a sudden. Did Gi-hun want more money? He could give it to him. But Gi-hun said no—he just felt he needed to support himself. He’d be a cook at a mid-range restaurant, with a decent salary, and it wasn’t too far away. In-ho didn’t like this; he loved having Gi-hun at home all day, sending photos and messages, letting him know when he was going out, waiting for In-ho. But he supported his husband.

Gi-hun, however, began coming home from work tired, upset, and discouraged. He didn’t talk about it with In-ho; he just enjoyed their time together.

After all, Gi-hun needed to be strong and endure the abuse at work; he wasn’t going to be a burden to In-ho. Gi-hun’s boss was very strict and didn’t hesitate to yell at Gi-hun in front of everyone, taking pleasure in seeing those doe-like eyes fill with tears. Gi-hun would endure it all for In-ho!

In-ho is going to make sure he’s never hired in Seoul again. And he drags Gi-hun away, grabbing him by the wrist. They need to have a serious talk!

Inho hugs Gihun and kisses him, tells him that Inho is the lucky one and that Gihun gives Inho meaning in his life.

My contribution:

One person can separate fiction from reality, doesn’t harm anyone in real life, thinks harassment and censorship are bad. The other scams a real person, who’s trying to support an artist, and then brags about their literal crime online.
