Mauve

Mauve is a normal sinner. His real name is Michael, but only Alastor calls him that. In hell, he calls himself Mauve.

Mauve is a ghostly purple rabbit demon. He’s actually a jackalope, but has no antlers since he’s ftm. Alastor dresses him, so he mostly wears suits. He has ghost and psychic powers. He’s Cajun. He’s gay, trans, and aroace. Only uses he/him.

Mauve’s personality is sweet, shy, and anxious. He’s rabbit like—easy to scare but can be sassy when he’s truly comfortable. He even chatters his teeth and stomps his feet like a rabbit. He’s a pushover and very soft-spoken. Doesn’t like being alone.

Dies of a brain aneurysm rupture. He has medical training, so he knows the symptoms and exactly what is happening to him. He knows he’s all alone and too far from help, which leads to him being afraid to be alone in hell.

Fun fact: Mauve’s flesh/blood is grape candy flavored! It’s unexplainable, one day Alastor bit Mauve a little too hard and discovered he tasted sweet!

Mauve and Alastor’s relationship

Mauve is very submissive to Alastor. Often allows himself to be manipulated because he finds it more comfortable than disagreeing with Alastor. Gave his soul to Alastor for the promise of Alastor’s love and care.

Mauve and Alastor met while Mauve was still human. At first, Alastor didn’t really love Mauve. He was just a cute new toy. Over time, he found himself becoming attached to Mauve. Alastor secretly planned their wedding and got married to Mauve as soon as Mauve died.

Mauve was extremely shaken and traumatized after his death. During his time recovering and adjusting to hell, he became extremely dependent on Alastor. He’s almost never without Alastor now. Alastor was very aware of Mauve’s fragile state and became softer for Mauve. Although Mauve eventually recovered, Alastor stayed sweet and loving.

Mauve is the one person Alastor doesn’t put up a performance for. He has even dropped his smile for Mauve, just to prove he trusts Mauve. Mauve is one of the very few people Alastor truly cares for and would hate to see hurt. Sometimes he can be manipulative or possessive, but always ends up feeling regretful and only grows more attached and loving as a result.

How did they meet?

On a hike in the woods, Mauve stumbled upon an abandoned satanic ritual, accidentally reactivating it with his presence. Driving home, he runs over a dead deer. When he gets out to check, Alastor picks him up and tries to get him to introduce himself, silently claiming him as a cute new toy. Mauve doesn’t respond, which bores Alastor. Alastor pretends to walk away, but uses his shadow form to hide in Mauve’s car and follow him home.

Mauve is obviously terrified every time Alastor shows up. It’s a massive demon in his home. Alastor forces contact enough times that Mauve eventually accepts his presence. He’s lonely so eventually he grows accustomed to Alastor’s presence, even missing it when Alastor is gone. Eventually, the forced affection feels mutual and Mauve falls in love. Alastor’s love is fake at first but grows to be genuine with time.

After years of secretly visiting earth through rituals Mauve makes to summon him, Alastor begins secretly planning their wedding. He wants to hold the wedding as soon as Mauve dies. Eventually, he grows impatient, planning to kill Mauve himself so they could be together in hell.

Mauve dies before Alastor can carry out his plan to kill Mauve. His death leaves him traumatized and barely functional. Alastor has to care for Mauve almost entirely. He has to force Mauve to eat and drink. He has to coax him to sleep by holding him, humming, and promising to watch over him the entire night. He has to make sure Mauve cleans himself. Mauve refuses to leave his side ever, pleading and crying if Alastor tries to go anywhere without him.

Despite Mauve’s condition, they are married within a week of Mauve’s arrival to hell. Mauve has little memory of the wedding, often asking Alastor to describe it to him.

Their relationship never goes back to how it was on earth. Alastor was mean to Mauve when Mauve was a human. After the trauma of Mauve’s death, Alastor simply stays kind and gentle, like he was in those first few weeks helping him recover.
