"On June 5 the band had a gig at Massey Hall in Toronto. This was sacred turf for Jack- the scene of one of the greatest jazz recordings ever made, by the apotheosis of jazz supergroups: the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet with Charlie Parker, Max Roach, Bud Powell and Charles Mingus. Jack was horrified to see Ginger hammering his drums into the beautiful oak stage and afterwards was so stressed out, having lost his voice yet again, that he just fled to the airport and had to be coaxed back by Bob [Adcock - Cream roadie]"

[Note: the gig list in Jack's bio states that it was on April 8th, at the Capitol Theatre in Ottawa, that Jack quit and fled to the airport. This would make more sense since the break up already had been decided on by June. It's not improbable that he was upset on both dates, but I believe the flight attempt was in April!]
