Edward watched as Haytham paced from one end to the other. Eyebrows raised and arms crossed, he patiently waited for a reason as to why he was asked to meet with the other two in the first place. Had it been any other person, his tolerance would be limited. But, as his father, Edward did his best to remain composed for Haytham — he had missed out on a majority of the other’s life. It was the least he could do.
He nodded in acknowledgment to Haytham’s greeting, murmuring a small “good evenin’” himself. Edward made note of his son’s placement: he was right in the middle. Wherever this was going, whatever he was going to say, the captain wasn’t entirely sure if he was going to like what came from Haytham’s lips.
“There are a good many other points to discuss during this…meeting, however. As I do not intend to lie, I believe I will start.”
His arms unfolded and his head raised. Haytham had Edward’s full attention.
"Connor, as you may or may not know, Edward Kenway is my father. And…father, as I know you do not realize, Connor is my son.”
Oh.
Oh.
He didn’t even know where to begin. There was obvious tension between Connor and Haytham, for one thing. Secondly, his son began his own family without him. Well.
With a stray hand raking through his hair and a quick sigh, Edward turned toward Haytham. Then to Connor. Then back to Haytham. His mouth opened to say something… anything, but nothing came out. Connor — this Assassin-in-training with a fiery vocabulary — was his grandson? He was proud, but still…
Finally, after a small moment of silence: “When did this happen?”
the name edward kenway was far from unfamiliar, known to him only through tales told by mister falkner and drunken sailors that lingered at the ports he frequented ( not that he frequented many ports in the first place ) the man in the stories was both feared and revered for his skill -- he could recall the telling of how the devil captain had managed to sink ships that could only be called legendary, a tale that had both amused the young native american and had made him wonder if this 'captain edward kenway' was even real. turns out, he was. and he was his grandfather. tawny hues blink in surprise and then narrow considerably at the two. it didn't take much thought to know that the infamous 'captain kenway' was related to him, given their shared surname, but.. it was hard to believe that an assassin had sired a templar. what had happened? connor spoke, a bitter taste on his tongue. " Fifteen years. " he recited his age as he swung his attention away from them, back to the setting sun. it had almost sunk completely down. a beat of a pause before he decided to add in how horrible of a father haytham was. " Without him. " the words were almost a hiss, bitter and directed almost completely towards haytham.
[so he's obtained a strange.. beepy device made out of.. metal? but yet strangely light in his hands. not to mention that it nearly scared the shit out of him when it started to make noise out of nowhere.]
[ haytham had just wanted a night away from his thrice-damned and dirtier than sin shack, honestly. the only problem was, he had no money to speak of. inns were out of the question, and the only person he knew even slightly happened to be his own son. thus, haytham wound up in an empty apartment belonging to connor. and because the journey there had been long and confusing, he’d laid down in the bed and napped.
of course, he woke when connor entered the room. but he would let his son have what fun he could. ]
the spirits were testing him -- yes, that is what this was. a test. a test that involved coming home to his father napping in his bed. it wasn't a very pleasant test, not when connor himself was worn out from a particularly long day of doing almost nothing of major importance. so -- a test of.. a test of what? familial ties? the strength of blood?
spirits be damned, if his father wanted to parade into his place as if he owned it, than he would take something of his father's as well. after very carefully sneaking up to where his father was sleeping, deft fingers quickly snatched haytham's hat, and connor did not spare one single moment in getting away from his bedside.

Ahhh, even more strangers. Why had C-ta left him alone, again? Wasn’t that abandoning his childhood friend duties? A-ya was tempted to just ignore them, to shy away and act like he didn’t notice them, but… a whole new place, a whole new city, what kind of rumors did they have? What kind of rituals and occult resided in this new place? He could only wonder. But, there was a chance that these people might know. So A-ya shoved aside his uneasy feeling and locked his eyes on the strangers.
"…Hello?"
{ the assassin's attention diverted, amber brown optics turning their attention towards the stranger. } " -- Hello. " { he had not seen this one before -- ah, but he had not seen most of the population of hive city. still, there was something about him that gave away his unease being in unfamiliar surroundings. }
" You are new. " { a question, and yet, a statement at the same time }

haythoms:
haytham didn’t get easily lost, but somehow he’d managed to get himself spectacularly off the map. he blamed the layout of the city and the whole unfamiliarity of it all. the things that glowed by themselves were especially distracting and there were all these…things that other people seemed to enjoy interacting with. it made his head spin to try and figure out what any of the things surrounding him were, so he tried focusing on the map he’d picked up somewhere during this whole debacle.
but finally, finally, he reached and scaled the building his son had indicated. as he pulled himself over the edge and stood, he found that the city and all its lights was oddly charming against the dusk.
dusting himself off, he makes his presence known. “Hello Connor.”
His belatedness wasn’t due to losing himself within the city or taking down a group of thugs for a price. Rather, it was a search for a body of water. Blue irises scanned the city for hours only to come to the final conclusion that there is not, in fact, any sort of large water sources any where near Hive City. He wanted so desperately to sail again, to feel the salty air against his skin. Hell, at this point, he didn’t care if there were ships to plunder — he just needed to sail. Obviously that wasn’t going to happen any time soon.
With a grunt, Edward pulled himself over the ledge of the building he was told to meet Connor and Haytham. The two were already waiting there; for how long he wasn’t entirely sure. Nonetheless, the show would carry on.
He approached the two, a natural smirk crowning his lips. “Haytham. Connor,” he greeted with a nod.Why his son and a near-stranger would ask to meet him here was beyond him.
he had taken a seat, long legs dangling over the edge of the building as he observed dusk overtaking the city. while it could not compare to the skyline of the frontier, it was oddly enchanting, the brights fires that lit up the vast city skyline; these lights chased away the stars that once dimly lit up the night sky, a disappointment for the native american assassin. the stars were one of the more beautiful aspects of the night sky, second only to the moon and it's pale shining light. " Father. " amber-brown optics glanced at the grandmaster as he made his presence known before darting back to the glowing numbers that signaled the current time. these numbers confirmed it: his father took an extraordinary amount of time to show himself, as if he had better things to do than appease his estranged son by actually showing up on time-- which would be completely understandable, if they were not currently separated from their world. connor made no move to face his father and merely rested his elbows on his knees, eyes focused to the futuristic skyline before them both. " Finally decided to show up? Do not tell me the great Grandmaster has fallen victim to a city. " he speaks as if hive city was simple to understand. it was a beast all in it's own - more complex than any colonial city he had laid eyes upon, and yet, it inspired more wonder than boston ever had. the native assassin finally tore his eyes away from the city skyline with the arrival of edward, turning to face both of them without ever getting up from his perch. why his father would invite a near stranger to accompany him was beyond him. he offered edward no words, but a nod of acknowledgement before turning his attention back towards his father, giving him a look of confusion before his eyes darted back to edward, and then back to haytham.

his father was taking far too long.
connor wasn't quite sure why he was humoring the man; he had done nothing but weave tall tales and lies from the moment they had met. haytham's mere presence was enough to put the young captain on edge. he didn't even like him; and yet, the native assassin was waiting for haytham to show his face -- it had been a little over forty minutes now, so says connor's mental clock (and the mysterious glowing numbers that displayed themselves on a building not too far from where connor was standing and yet.. his father had yet to appear and his patience for the man was beginning to run thin.
par ents...
my mom is dead and its my dads fault
“Oh, I’m sure the meanin’s somewhere along those lines.” Cue the cocky smirk as he crossed his arms in self-confidence.
“Well, that makes sense.” The kid was so serious like all the other Assassins. Although he thought like them, his attitude was far from those Edward met in Tulum: lippy, forward, and, most noticeably, young. He wasn’t complaining, though. In fact, he had to admit he had something of a sort of respect for the other. Ignoring the boy’s question (knowing very well he was being a little smart mouth), the Captain continued, “Aren’t you a little young to be in the Brotherhood?” He also knew the Assassins were an organization that had been active all around the globe, and the other didn’t appear to be from the Caribbean… or Great Britain, for that matter. Curiosity growing, Edward thought it couldn’t hurt to ask as well: “And come to think of it, I don’t believe I’ve gotten your name.”
" I am most certain it is not. " { -- the man actually might be true, now that he thinks about it. ah well, don't let him revel in the pleasure of being correct. }
{ ah -- his name. he is silent for a moment, as if he wasn't sure what to answer him with.. which is true, in some aspect of it. connor supposes -- if he was to go by the colonist's way of doing things -- that his name is connor kenway, but even the thought of that name makes him feel slightly ill, nevermind the disgusting taste it would leave upon his tongue. } " You never asked. Connor. " { a pause before he elaborates further } " Connor Davenport. " { despite only knowing the man for a some months, achilles was more of a father figure than the imagine of his biological father, whom lived within ink on paper during his childhood. } " Who are you? "
This GTA4 model makes the game a whole new experience I swear
-- so he came home to find his father has hijacked his bed. he has two options here: kill the man, or kick him out of his room. of course, he doesn't want to kill haytham (yet), and he doubts he could succesfully kick him out.
so what does he do? take his hat, of course.
