Stratt and Grace figuring out by themselves that their feelings for each other is more than just coworkers or friends, emotions digging deeper into their veins.

Every time Grace seeked Stratt's attention on the aircraft for a new discovery on the Astrophage, he always wish it could be for a normal conversation, one where he could learn her favorite color, or movie.

Every time Stratt booked a private jet and brought him along, she wished the empty seat beside her would be filled with his presence, and sometimes it would be, since he never liked planes, but not in the way she wanted it to be.

Grace who in meetings that Stratt had to give infront of other scientist or world leaders, always stared at her walking figure in front of the room, watching her every move and how the light of the projector bounced off her pale skin, listening to the sharp accent in her voice and the clicks of her shoes against the floor, and sometimes if he was lucky, would meet eyes while she took a brief pause im her presentation.

Stratt, who deep down knew that if anything went wrong with the mission, Grace was the next best option to send, because he knew every nook and cranny of this operation.

And when the time came, she needed 3 minutes to fully accept and grieve the loss of what could have been the love of her life. Because she couldn’t allow more time to think about it, knowing it would only bring more pain, and the mission was her focus.

And watching him in his coma while she counted the hours, minutes, seconds, down for the launch was the worst torture she could do to herself. Whispering to God, because if he existed, she only wished for this to be the only sin she could be forgiven for.

LIKE they've got their routine down to the minute, she holds him hella accountable and he reminds her that she doesnt need to hold the world all the time, sometimes she can just be human and sit on the couch and judge people on reality tv with him

people wonder if theyre a lavender marriage sometimes just cause they dont show much physical affection but NO theyre very happily married thank you (the tax benefits are a side effect), their affection shows in letting each other over explain for hours about their latest passion project and taking real interest and studying up purely because the other likes the topic and not because they have any real interest
