now, your computer inside the bunker has a game-inside-a-game on it which is a charming farming sim of undeniably greater quality and scope than the survival game you're playing. therefore, the object of the game becomes to keep your bunker secure so you can play the farming game more.

now, once you achieve the highest rating in the farming game, a secret shop inside it unlocks, and one of the novelty items you can purchase is a game console, giving you access to games-inside-a-game-inside-a-game. most of the games for it are typical mobile shovelware, but one of them is a highly polished, extremely brutal precision platformer with amazing level design and production values exceeding that of the survival game and farming sim combined.

He loves Vaugarde. He loves Vaugardians. He loves this version of them so much that does not want them to change. He does not want them to be hurt, or dead, or forgotten. He wants to preserve them as they are. He loves them all so much.

Changing it so that people are actively being murdered, that isn't the point. He doesn't want the people he loves dead, that's why he's freezing everyone. He's trying to protect them. All of them.

Now don't get me wrong people will have died. The curse moved slowly, over the course of almost a year. People will have fled into the wilderness. Or starved as the food chain is interrupted. There will be children like Bonnie, who were not found.

Some thoughts (and context):

Noticing Siffrin’s discomfort with touch, Bonnie decides to tug on their scarf whenever they want his attention, instead- this leads Siffrin to think they actually want a scarf, so they make one. Bonnie still tugs on their scarf, of course, but they don’t really mind at that point.

The scarf they made can also be used as a weapon in a pinch! Sif says it’s because it’s a ~Magic Scarf~ but really it’s because Stiffrin put a ridiculous amount of protective wishcraft in there over the course of 4 days and promptly passed out.

If they’re being honest, even they don’t know how strong it is because on day 3 the memories get a little blurry…

Stiffrin probably has the most solid relationship Bonnie, actually. He already got along with children quite well before, since his occupation as a storyteller meant Stiffrin’s interacted with quite a few during his travels. Due to their past, they’ve also become quite good at calming others, so Bonnie gets attached to them.

With the other adults in the group being either overly positive, closed off, or an anxious wreck, Stiffrin- (ironically enough) becomes the most stable person in the group for them.
