I am really sick of the implied (and sometimes explicit *cough* IFC *cough*) elitism in the TMBG fandom. The implication that if you haven't been to hundreds of shows or bought all the merch or been a fan since 1982 or know the Johns' cousins' middle names or whatever then you are not a proper fan. You should be able to feel equal belonging in the fandom no matter the details as long as TMBG brings you enjoyment (or even non-enjoyment benefit like comfort or solace or validation), period.
