Nate was sitting at the Three Broomsticks, reading one of his favorite books while drinking a hot Butterbeer. Really he was avoiding doing the grading he was supposed to be doing, but he just couldn’t stand to be in his office any longer. So instead he gave himself a well deserved break. His reading was interrupted as someone sat down in front of him. When he looked up he smiled at the woman across from him. “How are you Ash?”

Ash looked at Nate as she sat down across from him. She smiled softly. “I’m sorry to interrupt your reading, Nate. I’m doing well, how are you?” She gave him a sheepish smile, feeling bad for interrupting him. She just saw him there and bee-lined it to him.

Marcus took off his sunglasses, and ran his over his face. It was just a bruise, nothing life altering. He nodded. “You know, it’s really not as bad as it looks. I’ve had far worse, really.”
“you probably deserved it.” She lifted a bottle of whiskey to her lips and took a big gulp. Then offered him the bottle.
“I love spring; flowers smell absolutely delightful when they’ve just started to bloom.”

Lucinda walked into the bathroom, and she saw the Assistant Professor chug down something. “Are you ill?”
“Not yet,” Ash said, a hand over her stomach as it rolled. “But I might be about to be.”
Aislinn closed her eyes and chugged down a potion. It tasted awful and she felt like she was going to throw up.
Ash stared at Marcus as if she had never seen him before. She couldn’t believe he was saying those things to her. Just when she thought they had become friends or maybe even a little close. She shook her head. “I’m sorry you think those things about me, Marcus.”
He rolled his eyes. ‘I’m sorry you’re stupid enough to care for people who don’t deserve it. Maybe if they all torture you like Bellatrix, you’ll stop being stupid enough to have a weakness for any of them.”
Ash stood up straight as a rod at Marcus' words. She was beyond offended. She knew Marcus was a black and white kind of guy and she was a shades of grey kind of girl, but his words pissed her off. It would have been easy for her to sink into anger and hate after the bullying she had experienced as a student at hogwarts just because she hadn't had parents or blood purity to shield her. It would have been easy for her to turn cynical and full of fury after she had been tortures or attacked by dark hunters. But she tried to see the good in people and she tried to be hopeful for the future. She was somebody who though that everyone was capable of doing bad things and good things. And her hopefulness... Well, It was the only thing keeping her on the right side of the line sometimes. "That is a low blow, Marcus," she said quietly.

Ash regarded ted for a moment and sighed softly. “I don’t think he had any planned. You’re going to have to do better from now on. Talk to me, mr. Tonks. Why have your notes been slipping?”
“Because my girlfriend and I were arguing and couldn’t work together?” He mumbled and looked down at his feet. “We aren’t any more but I – Class is stressing me out, professor.”
"Oh Mr. Tonks," Ash said with a sympathetic smile. "Relationships can be hard at this age, but I'm sure you and your girlfriend will patch things up... Or it sounds like they have already. I can help tutor you if that will help bring up your grades. And I can talk to professor slughorn and see if there might not be some extra credit in the near future."
So much for thinking Marcus McKinnon cared. Here she thought they had become friends. She nodded her head accepting his words. The last thing she wanted was for Marcus to kick her away from the order of the Phoenix or the people she cared about like Lyra. “I’m not a sympathizer or a neutral and that’s all I’m going to say about this anymore. I’m in this 100%.”
It wasn’t that he didn’t care. He just was super stressed, and didn’t have time for people’s dramatics. “No instead, you’ll just think it and talk to people like that pathetic freak when he’s found. I don’t believe you are in this 100%. I think that you are in whatever side of this gets you more people, in your life. This is about life or death, and you have shown you care about people who are not even people.”

“Mrs Potter, I still don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.” Lily laughed slightly, and she took the drink from her old professor. “Thank you, how are you doing?”
"I'm doing well," Ash said with a smile. "How are you enjoying the married life? And the being out of hogwarts life?" Ash laughed.
“Well if it works, it’ll help the taker withstand compulsion curses. Such as the imperius curse. It’s not up to snuff to withstand that curse, at least not yet, but I’m trying to get it there. I’m back to trying to work my potion magic for the cause…”
He couldn’t say no to that seeing as it’d prove useful if she did manage something of the sort. Roy was still just a little hesitant, however he did nod in agreement. “So how are you going to test to see if it works? Try the imperius curse on me?”
"Sweet Merlin! No, of course not. Did you not just hear me it's not powerful enough yet? Not only is that curse illegal, and I'd really like to avoid going to prison, but I wouldn't." She took a breath to settle herself. "I was thinking a strong curse but nothing as bad as the unforgivable curse.
“Not at all, Mr. Tonks,” ash said setting down the bottle of cleaner and pulling off her gloves. “What is your question?”
“Do you know if Slughorn is planning on giving out extra credit assignments anytime soon?” Ted asked and rubbed the back of his neck. “I - I want to make up the couple of times my potions didn’t get finished.”
